LCHD protects health, prevents disease, and promotes well being.
The Lee County Health Department, located in fort Madison, Iowa, protects health, prevents disease, and promotes the health and well-being for all persons in Lee County. Our focus is on the population as a whole, and we conduct our activities through a network of public health professionals throughout the community.
Public health nurses make home visits to families with communicable diseases; environmental health specialists ensure safe food, water, and housing; and all work with community coalitions to advocate for public policies to protect and improve health.
A priority of Lee County Health Department is to assist persons to remain in their own homes in a safe and healthy environment. The following services are provided in the comfort and familiarity of a person's home.
Skilled Nursing, Home Health Aides, and Homemakers are available through a variety of payment sources. A Registered Nurse visits with individuals to determine what is right for each person. Payment may be available through Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance and private pay. A sliding fee scale is available to assist with private payment. Personal care and homemaking services are funded in part with funds from Southeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging, Inc.
