Dr. Paul Gets Results!

As a golfer, I spent almost six months with another physical therapy group trying to recover from back/hip pain and finally gave up. The pain did not subside, nor did my ability to re-start my active lifestyle. My next step was to go see an orthopedic specialist as I was sure I needed a more intensive recovery approach or even, dare I say, operation. I was told my pain was not coming from bones or ligaments but from a lack of flexibility and strength in my core area. I was diagnosed with 'piriformis syndrome'.
It was at that point the Illinois Bone & Joint Institute recommended that I go to see Dr. Paul Callaway, PT, PhD. The doctor stated that Paul had been achieving great results with patients like me ... someone that wanted to play better golf without pain and live an active lifestyle. He heard me when I said I really wanted to get back to golfing, biking, and hiking and do it WITHOUT CONSTANT PAIN.
I started working with Paul in the spring of 2010 and never looked back. I am not only back to playing golf but my scores are now consistently better by almost 10 strokes! Additionally, I am biking and hiking on a consistent basis.
Paul not only worked with me to gain more flexibility and strength, but taught me a better, more consistent golf swing ... I completely changed my swing so that I had better mechanics that could be supported by my body's structure.
If you follow Paul's approach to doing the exercises he details out for you AND continue to check in with him on a regular basis you will STAY on the ACTIVE aging path.
I am so indebted to Paul for getting me back on track. I highly recommend Paul and his style of physical therapy, golf-specific fitness and performance training. Paul GETS RESULTS!

Do Yourself a Favor

Since the opening of Cantigny's golf academy a couple of years ago, I have scheduled on-going sessions with Dr. Paul. Although many of the reviews posted here appear to have been written by advanced players, my situation is quite different in that I didn't play sports much as a youth and, therefore, was a bit intimidated about later in life trying to learn golf -- a game that seems to challenge even the most seasoned athletes. I had tried learning golf a few times before, but found that instruction was often given in terms that related the golf swing to other sports -- analogies that wouldn't and couldn't resonate with me.
Although Dr. Paul has worked with many of the top pros during his time with the PGA tour, he also works with state champion junior players, advanced club players, and even those like myself who are new to the game. In the past, golf lessons had often left me frozen within a haze of swing thoughts, but through Dr. Paul's drills and conditioning, I have found myself more able to be prepared for, understand, and integrate a teaching pro's instructions, definitely lessening the frustration factor for myself and, hopefully, for the teaching pro as well. Dr. Paul's drills are a great complement to my sessions with a teaching pro and have made me more receptive to continuing with the game.
Side benefits unrelated to golf have also come through working with Dr. Paul. The debilitating migraines I suffered with for years appear to be a thing of the past. Also, recently while standing in line at a Starbuck's another customer approached to ask if I am a devotee of yoga or pilates (I don't practice either) because in her opinion my posture was good enough to catch her eye.
Do yourself a favor because you deserve it: make an appointment with Dr. Paul and gain a new friend, coach, mentor, and an overall extremely positive influence in your life.
