These fixtures look great! I must have gone through 4000 to 5000 different models between Amazon, OverStock, Home Depot and local lighting stores in my area. For the price, you wont find a better 2-bulb fixture.
The 2nd ring and glass come off by rotating them an inch or so. The fixture is totally flush where the top ring meets the ceiling. The glass is actually a smoked white the picture makes it looks slightly yellow, but that is probably just the type of bulb they were using.
When we remodeled our house, we purchased 11 of these to to replace nearly every normal fixture we have and we are extremely pleased!
The light looks great. I gave it a 4 because it was difficult to put up and did need 2 sets of hands at the beginning. I am also a bit leary about changing the bulbs which requires turning the entire ring which holds the glass and then lining up the holes to get it back on. It may go easily, but I am older with a bad neck, so it may be a hassle. However, the light itself is perfect and the 3 bulbs give good light
It's beautiful, provides the perfect amount of light, and is the perfect size. My kitchen isn't big and fancy but it isn't small either, and it's square, so I really didn't want to go with a giant fluorescent light bar. The brushed nickel finish on this looks more like stainless steel, and actually matches my appliances perfectly. It was no more difficult to install than your average light fixture. The three bulbs on this size is what I really like, lights the kitchen very well without being overbearing like fluorescent lighting.
We bought this light to replace an old lighting fixture on the hallway ceiling and are very happy with it. The price is right and the quality is good. No issue with the color like some of the other reviewers stated. We also purchased the double sconce light for the hallway and two pendant lights for the kitchen from the same collection and are equally happy with them. An electrician installed all the lights with no problem. Highly recommend.
I bought 2 of these to install in my hallway to replace 2 twenty year old fixtures. The oil rubbed bronze don't match my other oil rubbed fixtures but since it's not in the same room as them, this did not bother me one bit (but if you need an exact match, like another reviewer says, it's a more gray color, but not that noticeable once installed.) The amber dome looks nice. It's not thin and cheap looking. It has 2 standard bulbs that brighten the hallway very well. (I only have one installed right now and there's already way more light.) Nothing was broken when I received it and all the hardware worked fine for me so I'm not sure what the other reviewers are referring to. I do know that there are 2 sets of screws of different sizes and 1 set is too short for them to be interchangeable, so you HAVE to use the shorter set to screw the fixture to the ceiling. I also installed it myself (along with all the other lightening I've done) so I didn't hire anyone to do it. It's super easy to do on your own. I, up to about a month ago, had never installed any kind of light fixture in my life and so this was one of the last 6 I have done in the past few weeks. I am really happy with my purchase and these were an inexpensive way to update my home without breaking the bank.
I was a little scared when I got this fixture. Mainly, I thought that a single bulb (that comes with the fixture) would be insufficient to light my entry hall well. The fixture also seemed a little cheap, with a plastic diffuser. However, once the fixture was installed, all of my fears were immediately put to rest. The fixture looks really sharp. It either can be placed right against the ceiling or about six inches below the ceiling (see the stock photo), and we have done the latter. It looks quite modern, and not cheap at all. The bulb that comes with the fixture puts out a ton of very white, beautiful light. It is perfect for this use. Perhaps a larger room could use two of them, but for our 5x8 entryway, one is quite enough, and I would suggest that it is ideal for a small room or kitchen. It really provides a modern appearance, but without an expensive price tag. I don't know about durability, but I really doubt that it will be a major issue. The bulb is a bit difficult to get to, but I am hoping that it will last a long time.
I'm going to rate this 5 stars based on what it is. It is a good deal. You are getting an item that looks great for the price. It isn't super quality the cover is plastic. But, it provides good light and was easy to install. I installed it with the extension. The instructions aren't very helpful but you don't need to be Einstein to solve this puzzle. One reviewer said it provided a bright white light. IT DOES NOT! I replaced it with a stark white light that I found at 1000bulbs . com. It now provides a bright white light for about 8 dollars more. All in all a very good deal. It lights my entryway sufficiently and I am going to buy another one for the hallway.
I just installed this light in a bedroom with 7 foot ceilings. I tried the semi-flush position, but it was just too low for us. It may look better if the ceilings were higher. Flush against the ceiling, it looks simple, clean, modern, and pretty classy.
- good price
- modern, clean , simple design
- easy installation
- energy efficient lightbulb
- lightbulb included was 3500K CFL which produces a pretty white cold light compared to incandescent bulbs... kind of eery, but I am going to try 2700K soon to see if I like it better
- light is not as bright as I'd expected (26W)
- specialty bulb
- The cover is PLASTIC, and it does looks cheap. It is also whiter than the glass covers I have on other fixtures. It doesn't scream PLASTIC, but I think you can tell if you pay attention to it.
- you can see light and dark spots inside the fixture depending on where the bulb is (this seems to happen with other fixtures as well).
Overall, a nice fixture for the price if you don't mind the white plastic cover!
