The Broadway Oyster Bar is a locally owned and operated establishment and has been for over 35 years. The Oyster Bar is widely regarded as the premier New Orleans' style restaurant, bar and music venue in the Midwest.
BOB, as it is affectionately known by its many fans and friends, is housed in a building that was built in the mid 1840's and is one of the oldest buildings still in daily use within the city of St. Louis. During its colorful history, our building has had many functions including a family home, a boarding house, a Chinese laundry, a record store and a bordello to name a few. These walls have heard and seen it all.

Some people feel that the building is haunted by spirits who, occasionally late at night, play good hearted jokes on the staff such as doors suddenly opening or closing or lights going on or off as if by magic. Then again, it just could be because the building is over 170 years old. However, our historic building has just gone through a renovation so we now have two outdoor patios that are covered and heated during cold or rainy weather and an expanded kitchen to better serve you.

Our food has won numerous awards and readers' polls for excellence and features some of the most sustainable seafood available such as fresh Gulf and Blue Point oysters, Louisiana crawfish and shrimp, Prince Edward Island mussels, scallops and crabs. Our Cajun and Creole dishes are our versions of many of the traditional Louisiana favorites. If you love New Orleans, you will feel right at home at BOB.

BOB offers live music twice a day every night of the week except on Friday when we feature one act for the evening. We present the best local and national touring acts representing a variety of musical genres such as rock, reggae, bluegrass, blues, funk, R&B, roots, and jam, and weshowcase a wide variety of bands visiting from New Orleans. The live music is free up to 8 times per a week. However, for some of the more popular and well known acts, we do charge a cover which typically goes to the bands in order to keep attracting them to the BOB.

Broadway Oyster Bar has been referred to by many as a staple of St. Louis and was recently honored by the St. Louis Chapter of the Missouri Restaurant Association as the 2015 Restaurant of the Year. BOB is a great choice for a relaxing dinner, a celebratory party or an opportunity to dance to a great band. As well known food writer, the late Joe Pollack, once wrote, "There is, quite simply, nothing in St. Louis quite like the Broadway Oyster Bar". That line was written over 30 years ago, but it is as true today as it was then. Welcome to the Broadway Oyster Bar Family.

The People who like it-won't/don't accept negative reviews by Brian Keslin via Citysearch on 8/30/2010

Very Scary. A person writes a negative review on here, and someone has to remark about it like it shouldn't have happened. It happened to us too. Our party tried to park on the back lot for dinner, but they had a chain across it-and…

Best bartender in the city by hermitatpeace via Citysearch on 3/21/2010

Ive been a fan of BOB forever. But, if Dan is not behind the bar, find another bar! The food is wonderful. I hate reading the one bad review posted.I have never seen them charge a parking fee (sure you at the right park lot? )- I have…

HORRIBLE FIRST IMPRESSION!!! by elfgirl1981 via Citysearch on 8/2/2009

This was our first visit to this restaurant. We called ahead to see what the parking situation was and they told us the restaurant has a private parking area for patrons and street parking if that was full. When we got there, there was a…

great Cajun theme by longrod21 via Citysearch on 2/9/2009

The crawfish bisque was probably the most authentic I've had and though I prefer catfish with a cornmeal (not flour) it was still very good. overall, I think it was very good food. the real test of a cajun restuarant is the gumbo and…

Just a short walk from Busch Stadium is the small Broadway Oyster Bar with it's cajun-creole style delicacies as well as other fresh seafood. Great music from local bands.

Broadway Oyster Bar by B K. via Judy's Book on 3/30/2006

This is a cool restaurant to go, especially if there is a baseball game the same day, as it is usually a festive atmosphere. This is also a good place to go on the weekend nights. Really nice outdoor patio area to eat and drink. Food is…

Really a Cajun place--should be listed there by A.J. Quentin M via Insider Pages on 12/22/2005

This is a very tiny place--a hole in the wall---but entertaining. If you go to a Cards game--this is a very short walk. Has great gumbo and jambalaya (and oysters) Not alot of seating in this place. It was overly hot when I went there.…

Fun bar and very good cajun restaurant. by dweebe via Citysearch on 9/6/2005

Broadway Oyster Bar (BOB) is a wonderful place to have a good time. The best part of the place is the outside patio. With a variety of cajun and blues bands the place is always hopping. Above average cajun food should be checked out early…

Good Bar, average food by peter k. via Judy's Book on 8/19/2005

The patio and music here are great. They have a great beer selection and a lively atmosphere. The best part about this place is that is only a few blocks away from Busch Stadium, the home of the cardinals. I have spent many nights here…

I have been able to sit in with the Soulard Blues Band on Monday nights and have also gained a lot of knowledge, respect and friends of the music they offer. Monday nights in the patio are outstanding. Simply sitting underneath the stars…

Dance on the tables by mikljonarch via Citysearch on 3/23/2004

The last Tab Benoit show at the BOB was outstanding, perhaps the best blues experience I've had. Raining outside so the crowd was forced inside where you stepped on the toes of your newest friends. A little dancing on the tables and…

A small, but friendly place with good live music and Cajun and Creole food. Also a short walk from Busch Stadium.

Great Outdoor Deck! by STL_Girl via Citysearch on 10/28/2002

Although I have never been inside Broadway Oyster Bar, I love going after Cardnial games. The deck is perfect for late spring to early fall weather. The blues bands are always great and the drinks are flowing!
