Lina Yew still remembers her first taste of duck confit. Just moved to Paris, first night out, and stumbled onto a little bistro just two doors from home. She took the recommendation and ordered the Confit de Canard. Her first bite into the luscious duck leg, she thought to herself, this is the best thing ever. A love affaire for French bistro faire started there. Mathilde French Bistro is a partnership of Lina Yew and her husband Thierry Clement, also chef owner of L'ardoise French bistro. We want to provide authentic French bistro food in a relaxing ambiance, where you feel like you are at our home. As you enter the door of Mathilde French Bistro, your senses will be delighted by the delicious aroma of French cuisine and the light-filled dining room. The design is clean and modern yet still evokes a nostalgic sense of the campagne rustique. The replica 17th Century gilded wall sconces, the antique hot air balloon chandelier, and the whimsical bust of "La Marianne" transport your senses to France. We hope to make your dining experience with us as memorable as Lina's first bite of duck confit.

Worst dining experience in my life! by monami17 on 12/18/2010 via Citysearch

Food-Raw risotto. Requested a re-fire to only receive a slightly more cooked with remaining crunchy bits of raw risotto. A friend and I had to send it back. He had his dish replaced with the steak (requested medium and received medium…

Tucked away from the city bustle, this inviting French bistro stays true to its name with delightful service and well-crafted cuisine. by Contributor on 5/7/2008 via Citysearch

The Scene
An elegant atmosphere of soft pinkish-red walls and white tablecloths feels lived in thanks to magnums of Bordeaux, clusters of flowers and esoteric artifacts that adorn the wood bar. An outdoor heated garden patio…

It's all about the patio by heathrowsch on 1/7/2007 via Citysearch

The prix fixe is a great deal, especially for French food in this city. Service and ambiance are good and if you are lucky enough to be seated on the patio it is hard to find a more romantic place in town. My boyfriend and I have been here…

great customer service, great dessert. by binky5806 on 11/4/2006 via Citysearch

We had a family reunion last may... daughter graduated from law school. there were 22 of us ages 1 to 51. Everyone enjoyed the food and the ambience, even our picky eaters. The manager was very helpful and kind.

The price is right, that's about it by foodielover on 10/1/2006 via Citysearch

For $28, the 3 course prix fixed meal is worth it. I wouldn't rant and rave that it's particulary wonderful 'tho. The French Onion Soup was nicely prepared, mine had a lot of cheese but my friend complained his hardly had any. I liked…

Good prices for soso French food by eminamy on 9/16/2006 via Citysearch

We were there at Le Charm because one of my gal pal highly recommend it. The price was good but I didn't feel so much "charm" from the staff there. The food was also just so-so with really small portion if you order from the "deal" meal.…

Great date place without damaging your wallet!!! by nancysee on 8/14/2006 via Citysearch

Small cute french restaurant with tall windows that let in a lot of natural light. We got the prixe fix for $25 each. We ordered the smoke salmon tartare, glazed fig salad, tritip steak, duck confit, apple tart and the crème…

Awesome food, exceptional service, unpretentious by sanfranjr on 12/9/2005 via Citysearch

I took my fiancee here for her birthday dinner yesterday and it was superb. Don't miss the Filet Mignon Rossini with Foie Gras and truffle sauce. We're really picky about service and one of our favorite dinner pasttimes is to critique…

Predictable, but in a good way by wondermatic on 11/12/2005 via Citysearch

As others have noted, the prix fixe is a great deal. The food is not always novel (how many ways can they present the duck leg, etc), but it's always a solid feed. Great value for French food in the City. The wait help seems to change from…

Great little place by sandylopezsf on 9/21/2005 via Citysearch

My husband and I love to dine here. Sit out on the patio and enjoy the prie fix and a nice bottle of wine. Service is always friendly and unpretenious. Highly recommended!

Special little French Bistro by merideth t. on 9/6/2005 via Judy's Book

Le Charm has several great things going for it. The food is delicious bistro fare so have a Kir Royale and settle in for something hearty. The 2 great things they have (outside of tasty food) are a Prix Fixe menu that gets you an appetizer,…

Go for the Prix Fixe Menu at dinner time. by morganhua on 6/18/2005 via Citysearch

Go to the patio and sit among the christmas lights. Very romantic. The Prix Fixe menu for $28 covers appetizer, main course, and dessert. Good deal. The duck confit was good and the floating island and creme brulee were excellent. The…

Decent food, nice outdoor seating with heaters by tdaya on 3/19/2005 via Citysearch

Had an enjoyable meal here with a large group recently. They've got a prix fixe menu, which can get on the pricey side especially if you order a bottle of wine (or two). But a good overall experience.

Nice enough by crinklesmn on 2/14/2004 via Citysearch

Le Charm was nice enough, the food was decent and the price was affordable. But for a little bit more money, there are much better restaurants out there that have better food and much better service (such as Clementine on Clement street,…

Good food for reasonable price by spitz2 on 12/29/2003 via Citysearch

The food was good. The service was not really for a French restaurant. Unless you get seats outside, the restaurant has no charm. But I think I would go back... good food for $30, why not?

Best French Escape by xderloin on 10/20/2003 via Citysearch

Le Charm has the best menu for a resonable price you can find in San Francisco. The service is personable and efficient. I have been twice and will surely go again. The food and presentation were impecable. The wine list had a wide variety…

Comme ci comme ca by jessie_vespa on 8/2/2003 via Citysearch

Some dishes were excellent, e.g. the onion soup. The ambiance is excellent. The service, however, was more fitting for a country tavern than for a city restaurant. The wine list is very, very limited. If you go, then go for the food. If…

A great deal by amaretto on 4/28/2003 via Citysearch

I've rarely been disappointed with the warm and inviting Le Charm. Good value, especially at lunch. Delicious steak. A wonderful spot for couples.

Good Food, Good Value by johnjg on 4/8/2003 via Citysearch

Have been there a number of times for lunch, the latest 4/8/03. Today, my chicken entree was a little dry from overcooking, but the food is usually above average. Smoked salmon appetizer is always good, as is the salmon entree. Soups…

One of a kind by kdebeer on 4/2/2003 via Citysearch

Le Charm has been my favorite restaurant for five years. No other restaurant compares to it in terms of food quality and value, service and charm. The owner is a class act, who always makes her customers feel welcome. The prix fixe menu…
