It was not a coincidence that Salvadorian sisters Rosie & Iby are at the forefront of the new restaurant at Taqueri´a El Pollo in Sunnyvale now operating under a new name: El Sabor de Mercedes. They grew up in the restaurant industry in Chalatenango, El Salvador at their Mother, Mercedes Cardoza-Guardado’s restaurant called “El Sabor Chalateco”. “That name was already taken in Santa Clara County, so we opted for El Sabor de Mercedes in honor of our Mother.”, says Rosie Guardado. When partner Alberto Sa´nchez who was then owner of Taqueri´a El Pollo in Sunnyvale invited them to join him in the venture and add their delicious Salvadoran dishes to the menu.
