Rome Leite Home Improvement Contractor

Rome Leite is the contractor from hell. I wish I had been more diligent when I checked his reviews, as I would have avoided him like the plague. My lovely young professional 28 year old daughter worked very hard for several years, saving and taking on extra work dog sitting and baby sitting while working long hours in the high end closet design industry. I helped purchase a condo for her. The unit needed a complete renovation. Unfortunately, I hired Rome. My daughter gave him a sizable payment and he started the work. Two weeks in his subcontractor cut through a pipe and there was a flood that affected the common areas and several other units. Rome, at that point showed his true colors. He did not take a hands on approach. He showed up several days later. A disaster company was called in to handle the water damage. Rome would not make an insurance claim. He tried to do everything out of pocket. The Board was displeased with his work and lack of diligence. After what should have taken two weeks, he was still giving excuses after two months. The Board fired him and barred him from the building. My daughter trusted him when he asked for a second payment of $6500.00 two days after the flood. We thought he would return to the unit in two weeks. It didn’t happen. He absconded with her hard earned money and wouldn’t even return the keys. How low can you get, and if that isn’t bad enough he refused to put in a claim even though he said he would. He lied. The condo association is billing everything to the unit. I asked Rome to return the payment of $6500.00 that he hadn’t done any work for. He said he didn’t have it. He operates a Ponzi scheme. I contacted him via phone, email and texts. He won’t respond. He’s completely off the radar. Needless to say I will have to engage legal council. PLEASE folks, DO NOT hire this swindler.
