Home foam and fiberglass insulation are two common types of insulation used in residential buildings. Fiberglass insulation is made from tiny glass fibers that are pressed together into batts or blown-in loose fill. It is affordable and widely available. Fiberglass insulation works by trapping air in the small pockets between the fibers, which helps to slow down heat transfer. On the other hand, spray foam insulation is a liquid foam that is sprayed onto surfaces. It expands and hardens into a solid foam, creating an airtight and moisture-resistant barrier. Spray foam insulation has a higher R-value (a measure of thermal resistance) compared to fiberglass insulation, making it more effective at reducing heat transfer.
