THE ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL SURGEON Oral and maxillofacial surgeons require an additional four to six years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia residency training after graduation from dental school. As oral and maxillofacial surgeons, the doctors of Iowa Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, P.C. manage a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth, jaws and face. They practice the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise ranging from dental implant procedures and wisdom tooth removal to corrective jaw surgery. This also includes techniques designed to reconstruct bone structure with minimal surgical intervention and optimal patient comfort.
