Sahara Mart is a family owned and operated grocery with a range of products from the exotic to the ordinary. Since its beginning in 1986, it has continued to grow, from a tiny store at the corner of two alleys between Third and Fourth Streets, to a larger, more prominent location at Second and Walnut.

We love this store. We drive 50 miles to shop here. The selection has been well within our needs and the hard to find items have been at Sahara Mart.

The new store was creepy -- empty and cold and hardly any shoppers. (I never went back.) I get the feeling it won't be able to stay open. Also the Saharas are expensive. And whichever one you go to, check your receipt!

Good selection of organic and natural products. An alternative to Bloomingfoods. I am not confident that the proprietor is ethical. More of an opportunist, I would say. But maybe that's the nature of business these days.
