The audiologist is the only person who can ensure that you receive a thorough, accurate hearing evaluation and that your hearing health care needs are met.

Hearing Checklist
  • Misunderstand conversations?

  • Ask people to repeat certain words?

  • Avoid social situations where you find it harder to hear or understand?

  • Turn up the TV or radio so loud that it annoys others?

  • Have ringing, roaring or buzzing in your ears?

  • Think people mumble?

  • Hear better in one ear than the other?

  • Find women's and children's voices difficult to hear?
If you answer "yes" to one or more of these "warning signs," you may have a hearing loss. 30% of people over age 65, and 70-80% of people over age 75 have a "significant" hearing impairment. In al, more than 28 million Americans have hearing loss.

Hearing loss develops so gradually most people don't even notice it. Sometimes it takes someone close to you - such as a loved one - to let you know that you may have a hearing problem.

Now that you have seen the doctor, how do you finally get the hearing aid that will help you hear better?

  • Schedule an appointment with one of our audiologists for a hearing aid selection by calling 859-781-4900. At the visit, the audiologist will discuss the different sizes and technologies of hearing aids. Based on your needs, the audiologist will help you select the best available hearing aid. Because hearing aids are custom made, an impression of your ears will be taken at this visit. Further testing of your hearing may also be conducted.

  • Approximately two weeks later, your hearing aids will be fitted to your ears. At this time you and your audiologist will discuss the care and maintenance of your new hearing aids. Your audiologist will continue to give you support and guidance in becoming accustomed to your new hearing aids. You will have an extended trial period to become adjusted to your hearing aids.
Hearing aids and related services are generally not covered by insurance companies, Medicare or Medicaid. Therefore, unless prior arrangements are made, payment is expected at the time the service is rendered.

Financing is available for the purchase of hearing aids. Please speak to on of our audiologist regarding this option.
