I chose hematology and oncology because it interested me throughout medical school and residency, and then over time I became very interested in being part of patients' lives during that critical period that they're going through with treatment. It's a very evolving field. There are always new treatments and promising research that make a lot of previously terminal illnesses very treatable or curable, and I like that aspect of it.
