John Franzese

John N. Franzese is part of Summit Health’s Gastroenterology team. Dr. Franzese has extensive training in general adult gastroenterology and is experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of digestive disorders in both men and women.<br />

Prior to joining Summit Health, Dr. Franzese was in private practice in Chatham for 25 years. Medicine has always been his calling with his decision to serve being heavily based on life experience and his strong belief in the health care mission. He says, “I rely on my knowledge and empathy to serve as the foundation for patient care and make every effort to gain thorough understanding of my patients’ clinical issues so I can guide them to better health and overall well-being.”<br />

Dr. Franzese has been selected as a NJ Monthly Top Doc since 2006 and received a Patient’s Choice Award in 2013. He currently serves on the Medical Quality Review Committee and the Transfusion Committee at Overlook Medical Center. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the Union County Medical Society, the Medical Society of New Jersey, and the American Gastroenterology Association.<br />

Outside of the field, Dr. Franzese enjoys spending quality time with his family and staying physically active. He is especially passionate about cystic fibrosis advances and fundraising, as well as serving his community and church.
