Woodside’s Landmark Gathering Place came to life in 1966 when a New York City Firefighter named Joe Donovan, with the help of his father, purchased the Clover Leaf Bar on the corner of 58th Street and Roosevelt Avenue. It didn’t take long for Donovan’s to become a favorite with the heavily Irish community. Joe Donovan became well known throughout Woodside, especially with his neighbors across the street at St. Sebastian. With good food at fair prices, Donovan’s Pub has become the gathering place for everything from a quick drink to large family gatherings celebrating life.

The best Irish pub in NYC!

My Review by jayf941575993 on 8/8/2014 via Citysearch

I absolutely loved my burger & the service. Chris was awesome as always! Reading the other reviews, I wonder if people are confusing the donovans in bayside with this location. I had a burger medium rare with crumbled blue cheese, fried…

My Review by lenaj1635967983 on 5/20/2014 via Citysearch

Since the new owners took over the food has been much better and the service too. The burgers are the best, especially after (or before) a Met game with a pint!

HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! THE WAIT STAFF IS THE RUDEST!!! AVOID THIS PLACE!!! The waitress was impatient and kept asking us if we were done with our food. We overheard her telling another waitress that we were eating too slow and wanted to…

Love the place! by Lady Tricia on 3/9/2011 via Citysearch

Been going to Donovan's for years, have never ever gotten sick on their food. Think it is one of the best places left in Queens to eat, drink and socialize!\r \r Fish & Chips are the best not frozen chips made from real potatoes. The…

who knows why this burger got famous. by SivanM on 5/10/2009 via Citysearch

We went because of all the hoopla regarding their burgers. nice place, we happily wait for an extra long time to get our food. And then it came. The kind of burger you would basically get at any diner. I mean, this was below Applebee's…

Great place if you're Irish. Apparently no service if you aren't. Should say FOR IRISH ONLY by Mike789123 on 9/28/2008 via Citysearch

My fiance and I were interested in trying the place out. We say the sign claiming it had the best burgers in NYC so we thought why not. We go in and the place looks nice. Typical pub look and feel. We head to the back and were seated…

Great Food, Friendly Staff. Worth the trip. by polinski on 4/13/2007 via Citysearch

The burger was as advertised. Compared to the rest of the pubs in the neighborhood, the pints were a bit cheaper. Disappointed that there is no Happy Hour (Not sure why they mention "happy-hour suds" in the description). Definately a…

Great Everything by girlfromwoodside on 3/14/2006 via Citysearch

I've been going to Donovan's for years. Great everything. Inexpensive and cozy. They DO NOT take credit cards and Parking IS TOUGH, but worth it. There is a bank two blocks away to get cash if needed.

Excellent little Irish Pub by krench33 on 11/8/2005 via Citysearch

There is a big sign on the outside of the place stating that people had voted Donovan's to have the best burger in New York, so being that we moved here just a month ago, we had to try it. It was one of the best burgers I had. It was…

We used to go there once a week by Sandi D on 9/2/2005 via Insider Pages

New Chef Brings Down Local Pub by Adam O on 8/2/2005 via Insider Pages

Used to be one of the best Irish burger and beer joints in Queens. Known for great food at fast food prices along with bar. The last few times I was here the burgers were terrible. Apparantly they changed the chef and not the prices. …

What happened? by Liz S on 7/20/2005 via Insider Pages

I hear Donovan's used to be quite the hot spot. Unforunately, the bar is now often dead and the food is very bad. The service, although friendly, also leaves something to be desired.
