Taj offers an extensive selection of classic Indian chicken, lamb, beef, seafood and vegetarian dishes. I especially like the lamb shahi korma, which combines chunks of tender lamb with cashews and raisins in a mild but aromatic cream sauce. The lunch buffet has already become popular in the few months since the restaurant opened, and it's easy to understand the attraction. It's a feast of curries with deep layers of flavors, the meats and seafood are fresh and tender, and the staff is solicitous.

This is a great place to go for a quiet dinner. The service is always prompt. The flavors are unique. And the portions are adequate. You can almost always get in.

As far as food is concerned, This is the BEST Indian food anywhere in the vicinity and I have tried both Maharaja and Darbar India. The restaurant is beautifully decorated from the inside and the waiter was very courteous. As other…
Indian Glimmer of Hope in Madison by polyphon on 3/11/2006 via Citysearch
While it's not like Indian food in large, truly ethnically-diverse cities (e.g., L.A., Houston, etc.) it ain't bad for Madison. Sag had waaaayyy too much cream in it (it looked more like Stouffer's Creamed Spinach than sag paneer). Also,…
Lunch Buffet by yul s. on 9/14/2005 via Judy's Book
I love Indian food. Well, spicy food in general. This restaurant serves Indian food-buffet style for lunch, and the food was excellent. Upon entering, all that spicy aroma just wafts through... and the best part is, you don't have to wait.…
Delicious North and South Indian Food by Rachel Z. on 8/29/2005 via Judy's Book
I have not dined in the restaurant, so I am commenting on the take-out my husband got from the Taj - Chicken Tikka Masala and Vindaloo Beef, with garlic naan bread - and it was some of the best Indian food I have ever had. Normally we have…
