Tenaker Pet Care Center

Tenaker Pet Care Center has been a family owned an operated facility since 1986. Owners Dave and Dick Schutt grew up in Iowa and moved to Colorado over 40 years ago. When they first moved to Colorado they were involved with land development and construction. In their search for land to develop, they came across 10 acres of land that was also home to a boarding kennel that had been built in 1950.

The original owners had created the name Tenaker as a play on the 10 acres where the boarding kennel resided. Dave and Dick were originally only interested in the land behind the boarding facility, but the owners were only willing to sell the complete 10 acres and the dog and cat boarding facility. The brothers decided to purchase the land and the boarding kennel with the intentions of selling the kennel and developing the rest of the land. Once they owned the boarding facility and got to know the business, they fell in love with it. They have gone on to grow the business to include a veterinary clinic, dog training, grooming, and daycare in addition to the boarding services.
