Please Note, We are currently under a stage two fire ban. No wood or charcoal fires allowed. A stay at this KOA puts you on one of the most popular stretches of the Arkansas River for fly-fishing, kayaking and whitewater rafting. From mid-April through mid-May, an amazing caddis hatch produces incredible dry-fly action. Mid-May through Mid-September local whitewater rafting guides can put you on a raft through tame stretches of water near KOA or take you for a wild ride through Royal Gorge, 23 miles east. Atv guides can show you some out of the way places on solo or group trips with various options of vehicles. We have closed the motel, swimming pool, hayride, ice cream social, art shed and game room, most likely for this entire summer.  Mini golf and the the playground are currently open.  Restrooms and Camping Cabins remain 0pen. Although the pool is closed, we are right on the Arkansas River. You can scramble down the banks to the river, bring your Hiking and River shoes! With limited to no internet, TV or Radio in the Canyon, cool evenings, all summer long, invite you to have an old-fashioned campfire with friends and family. Reconnect the old-fashioned way, by sharing old stories and making new memories.  Enjoy the Patio RV Sites (overlooking and near the river), with concrete patios, fire rings and patio furniture, or the upgraded Tent Sites, with water and electric and their own patio with patio furniture, overlooking the Arkansas River. Marvel at an old-fashioned starry night and the Milky Way. For 20 plus years, we have been focusing on dark skies lighting in the campground to preserve our magnificent night views. Bring your flashlight! See our event section to schedule a visit during a meteor shower. You're near the Royal Gorge, the Royal Gorge Route Railroad, the new Royal Gorge Dinosaur Experience, the historic towns of Salida, Westcliffe and Silvercliffe, Great Sand Dunes National Park & Preserve and the old mining town of Cripple Creek are an hour and half drive.  Pool: Closed 2020. Max pull thru: 65 feet.
