In Short
In 1982, businessman Doug Cavanaugh opened the first Ruby's in Southern California's Newport Beach, naming it after his mother. Today, this nationwide chain--adorned with red vinyl booths, Formica tables, soda fountains… Read Full Editorial

i love ruby's! by dmone88 via Citysearch on 10/6/2009

i love this little joint. i always have the same waitress name katey, she is the sweetest and cutest little button ever. I always go in for a oreo shake and chicken tenders. they are my favorite :)

Good burgers by Penelope M via Insider Pages on 8/19/2008

Good burgers, lovely milkshakes, onion rings, etc. - your basic clog-your-arteries, all-American food. A relaxed atmosphere, lots of families with kids, and the waittresses aren't much older than the young fry tagging along with their…

Fun Diner by Patricia R via Insider Pages on 3/3/2008

It's like a throwback to the fifties at Rubys. The decor is wild and fun. They have fish flying around on a track on the ceiling. They have really good Kobe mini burgers. They are an appetizer, but it makes a whole meal for me. the service…

Location here is more the attraction than the food. Can't go wrong when near the beach. Cute place to take the kids to get a burger and milkshake. Parking can be an issure during summer because of the surrounding businesses.

Nice place to eat at by Shaqeela I via Insider Pages on 12/20/2007

A nice selection of food and entertaining staff. I had fun and thought it was a great place to eat. The service was good and friendly too. About a mile away is Rockin Baja an you should consider there first.

Exceptionally poor by boolyboy via Citysearch on 1/11/2007

Wait staff could care less. Food awful. Had the decor but no atmosphere whatsoever and the jukeboxes at the tables don't even work. Truly poor in every respect.

If you want to go back to the 50's this is the place by jessikasi via Citysearch on 7/19/2006

This is a good place to take the family. It is very family friendly. The service is fast and friendly.\r The food is average but better than what you would get from a fast-food place. The milk shakes are the best. Its pricy but the…

a classic diner with classicly good food by rachel1215 via Citysearch on 7/7/2006

i grew up on rubys--it was my staple after ice skating in PV and biking in RB. today, i still like grabbing a cheese burger with avocado and the oreo shake. the service is eh but the shakes and burgers are worth it. this location has a…

The best burgers in the sbay! by narcissus via Citysearch on 1/21/2004

Every burger I've tried has been great- esp. the "beach burger". The fries are delicious as well as the shakes. Don't bother w/the other main course menu items, they're not as good (they're either bland or too salty). If you go w/a…
