Situated atop the historic San Diego neighborhood of Golden Hill and minutes from Downtown, San Diego, the Turf Supper Club was established in the 1950's as San Diego's original grill-your-own supper club and bar. Conveniently located near the 5 and 94 freeways, this restaurant and steak house offers a comfortable lounge atmosphere with old school charm, classic cocktails, cold beers, quality meats, jukebox music, a piano, and some of the best people watching anywhere. Order a juicy steak, chicken, or salmon, marinated to perfection and ready for you to cook over the sizzling grill. If for some reason grilling food isn't your thing, then take a seat at the bar and enjoy Turf Supper Club for what it is at the core... one of San Diego's oldest cocktail lounges.

Let's just say upfront that The Turf Supper Club, or Turf Club as it is commonly known, is not for vegetarians. The menu consists of meat, meat and more meat. Sure, you can get a veggie kebab and a side salad, but the main ingredient here… Read Full Editorial

RUDE, HOSTILE, AWFUL. Go anywhere else. by eatingInSD via Citysearch on 7/30/2011

Spend over 100$, get treated like sh*t. Awful service. Poor food. Go to The Strip Club downtown or Riviera Supper Club La Mesa if you're looking to grill your own meat. At least you won't leave feeling sick. Extremely Rude Service. Door…

I love the Turf Supper Club by Andrea G via Insider Pages on 8/7/2009

The Turf Supper Club is one of my favorite places to eat in San Diego! Although, I here that the ownership has changed....so hopefully the dining/bar experience itself does not change! It is a small little dive piano bar at the edge of…

A nice dive by Kelly G via Insider Pages on 3/16/2009

This place is a nice little dive bar in the Golden Hill area. A grill in the center of the bar has customers cook their own food, which is a fun concept. Ownership did change hands, and I know a lot of the friendly staff and bartenders…

Hidden Gem! by Mrs. B via Insider Pages on 10/22/2008

This place is one of my absolute favorite low key spots for dinner n' drinks. I heard it has changed hands, but hopefully nothing else about it has changed. If you want to check out the new place, I heard you can find the old owners and…

I approve by bluefooter via Citysearch on 2/27/2007

I'm so happy that greater PB has not yet discovered the beauty that is the Turf Club. With most of the bars in North Park being taken over by the onslaught of wannabe hipsters, this place has managed to uphold it's local integrity. Still…

Best local joint by notasurfer via Citysearch on 1/31/2007

This is another of my fave local spots to hang out. It's crowded on weekends, but it's all locals and everyone is usually friendly around the grill. Great place to meet others in the neighborhood, great martinis, and just an all-around…

Grill your own steaks with fellow in-the-know locals at this venerable, retro dive that separates South Park and Golden Hill.

Hip Dining by Douglas L. via Judy's Book on 8/11/2005

Unique concept that has been copied in more upscale trendy establishments. This used to be the "in" place back in the 50s and 60s for Del Mar Race Track devotees. This is a laid back place as mentioned looks divey but is actually quite…

Fantastic Hipster Hangout by Sara H via Insider Pages on 6/1/2005

Good (stiff) drinks, fun people, entertaining staff and the best juke box in town. Grill your own steak and make new friends at the large grill in the center of the place! Very popular place, crowded most nights, but especially on…
