The Scene
White walls and blond-wood tables and chairs, along with Noguchi-inspired craft paper lampshades handmade by the chef, give the restaurant's interior a fresh feel. The casual mood is set by the clientele, many of whom… Read Full Editorial

Really good but not authentic by nolanick via Citysearch on 6/13/2011

Value, food and staff are all great. But it's not really a "Japanese" restaurant. They serve lots of Japanese dishes but do lots of non-traditional combinations and techniques. Still alot better than other sushi places in the city but not…

Kyoto Sushi Bar by yvonne vidler via Citysearch on 3/9/2011

The sushi was very good & we are going back for more today. The Hot Box from the specialty menu is outstanding.\r Ordered two appetizers, the Stuffed Shiitake Mushrooms & the Beef and Asparagus Roll. The beef & asparugus was bland & tough,…

Delicious by Dianne K via Citysearch on 2/7/2011

Kyoto's is delicious- great variety of sushi, but sometimes can be too pricey. I wish they would lower the prices a bit so I could eat there more!!

Love this place. I recommend it to even the most discriminating critics. If you get a chance to visit this place located in the uptown area of N.O., dont hesitate.

EXCELLENT ALL AROUND by elboyosushio via Citysearch on 5/30/2009

I love this place. My fidelity is timeless. The owner Sara is a sweet person and has great people skills. Great restaurant guys.

Food OK Owner Rude by Sam0530 via Citysearch on 4/9/2009

Owner, Sarah does not know how to talk with customers and is rude. I would not advertise for this restaurant again.

Omg it's great!! by CSMobileUser via Citysearch on 2/25/2009

I don't know why anyone wouldn't like this restersnunt. I mean IRS totaly a great place for kids and adults to acually see the chef cooking right in front of you! I would totaly revoment this place for any family or or just parents to come…

I wish I could like it... by sushifan84 via Citysearch on 4/13/2008

I've had friends that have worked there... but I'm sorry... it's just awful! The original chef/part owner is no longer there... and man has the quality gone down! The wait staff is slow, forgetful, and they don't know the menu. It was…

One of my favorites by alainaM2003 via Citysearch on 2/12/2008

Kyoto is certainly one of my favorite sushi places in New Orleans. With a perfect location, start with their fresh squid salad. Spectacular special house rolls as well as fantastic typical rolls. After you're filled with sushi, walk next…

One of the best sushi places in town. by psu_upward_bound via Citysearch on 7/19/2007

I lived in New Orleans from 2001-2003 and Kyoto was a frequent favorite during my time there. I was thrilled to see that it had weathered Katrina. Though the fish isn't quite as good as I remember, Kyoto's is still among the best sushi…

Best Sushi Ever by mariss228 via Citysearch on 6/30/2007

I've had a lot of sushi in my life, and Kyoto is definetly the best I've had, and everyone I've taken there (which is a lot of people) agrees. The Sara roll is particularly excellent.

Good sushi, fun atmosphere, just remember what you ordered by skarnik25 via Citysearch on 4/16/2007

With the right mindset Kyoto is fantastic. I understand the people who gave it a bad review but they are wrong. Yes, the waiters sometimes forget an order and sometimes the rolls fall apart, but they give great portions, the sushi…

Don't waste your money here. by bizzo123 via Citysearch on 12/7/2006

So disappointing. This place is nothing like its pre-storm presence. Service is unprofessional and unconcerned. Food is not even average for sushi. Don't bother.

Poor Service...Very rude to customers... by dkmedicine via Citysearch on 4/7/2006

Had a difficult experience with the manager--reported it to the owner who made no efffort to rectify situation for 15 of us that wanted to eat...

Exceptional food and service by dr1913 via Citysearch on 4/13/2005

The ambience at Kyoto is inviting, the people are accomodating and the sushi is excellent. Kyoto is my new favorite sushi bar. I make a visit at least once a week, for the past 4 months and nothing has changed.

LOVE THIS PALCE by mitcheisenberg via Citysearch on 8/19/2002

I walk to Kyoto about once a week. The people are always friendly, the food is always fresh and the crunchy rolls are the best in town (trust me I have been around to try them all). I have not had one thing here that I disliked!
