Located at the heart of Hanover Street, Lucia Ristorante is an institution in Boston's North End. Opened in 1977, Lucia was the first restaurant to bring authentic Italian cuisine to Boston’s oldest neighborhood. We continue to combine traditional Italian favorites with innovative new dishes in our distinctive atmosphere.

Ample summertime patio seating is available in the newly bricked courtyard of our neighbor, St. Stephen's Church.

The Scene
Lucia doesn't look like much has changed since the Frattaroli family opened it in 1977. Brightly colored murals tattoo every inch of wall and ceiling space in the main dining room, which has a distinctly retro feel. The… Read Full Editorial

My Review by staceys360346737 via Citysearch on 10/1/2012

I've lived in the North End for almost 10 years and have tried most of the restaurants up and down Hanover, Lucia's is the place I always recommend to friends and family visiting Boston. The food is always very good. If you're looking for…

DO NOT EAT HERE - bland and putrid by Johnny C123 via Citysearch on 3/24/2012

Read the last reviewer's comments. They are very true. Here was my experience. My girlfriend and I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon to try an Italian restaurant in the North End. The menu looked promising and there were plenty of seats…

Do not make this mistake! by bostongirl67 via Citysearch on 3/12/2012

If I could give less than 1 star for this ridiculous establishment, I certainly would do so. I rushed home tonight after dining at Lucia just to write a review so that no one else has a similar experience. I arrived tonight with a friend…

Sometimes Locals Need to Get Out of Town More by FatLittlePiggy via Citysearch on 9/30/2010

My girlfriend and I were visiting from NY and wanted to find some good Italian food in the North End. We had been driving around for a while looking for a parking spot. We asked a local walking a Bassett Hound which Restaurant he thought…

Outraged, this has never happened to me, DON'T BOTHER by Barbara7000 via Citysearch on 4/29/2010

At first this restaurent seemed like a good choice, visitIng the Boston area from San Francisco we decided to give this restaurant a try. My son and I sat down and ordered a very basic meal, salad and entre meanwhile everyone around us…

SUPERB by David B via Insider Pages on 7/4/2009

Simply marvelous. All the others in the North End had lines waiting, glad we walked a few extra steps to find this gem. The food, wine and service were all wonderful. Can't wait to go back all the way from Cincinnati.

The Best Restaurant in Boston by rtkolias via Citysearch on 6/27/2009

I have eaten -everywwheeere- in this city, and nowhere leaves me more satisfied than Lucias. \r More than reasonable prices. Beautiful, authentic and cozy atmosphere. Knowledgeable and friendly staff and management (they even stayed…

I took my girlfriend to Lucia last night. It was the first time either of had eaten there, and we were very impressed. Our server Christine(a) was great. she recommended a veal dish for me that came with a lemon sauce and i was not…

Delicious by Lia M via Insider Pages on 5/18/2009

If you are in the mood for great Italian go to Lucia's. The menu is more affordable as compared to other Boston restaurants. The staff is accommodating. The food is simply delicious!

Strongly recommend to everybody by Kensuke via Citysearch on 9/7/2008

This is our first trip to Boston and everywhere we go, we try our best to find the best Italian. This time,we had no resutaurant info in advance,so me and my wife just walked around to seek the real taste of Italy using our six sense.…

Lucia's by Mémé B via Insider Pages on 6/9/2008

If you like the feel of Italy this is the place for you, right on Hanover St in the North End of Boston. Great food sauce is out of this world sweet and thick like a sauce should be

Loved it by CSawyer23 via Citysearch on 3/21/2008

I have been disappointed with many restaurants during restaurant week, but Lucia was definitely not one of them! We arrived and were prompty greeted in a very friendly manner. The entrance is a little awkward (it's as if you are walking…

Worst Service EVER by Pinkfloyd33 via Citysearch on 3/12/2008

Heard a few good things about this place, so i tried it out last night for restaurant week. Now I've heard that you don't get the best service during restuarant week, but I've been to most places in Boston for restaurant week and have had…

unpleasant by StevenD1377 via Citysearch on 3/4/2008

Why this place has more than 4 stars is beyond me. EXTREMELY UNFRIENDLY MANAGEMENT-OWNERSHIP. Classes on personal conduct may be useful for the management...as during my meal, I witnessed management speaking to its staff in a manner that…

The Taste of the North End by Pamela B via Insider Pages on 12/23/2007

Devine little restaurant that has been around since the 70's. Calamari is great. Try the pollo arrabiata which is a chicken with anchovies and mushrooms. It's great. You can't miss with any dish here. The prices are average for the…

Icky food by nbodell via Citysearch on 9/3/2006

This place always has a line so I assumed that the food was good. I was so wrong. I had the Lobster Ravioli, which was a special for the night, and it was awful! It tasted like the restaurant bought it in bulk from BJs and just heated it…

great for a date night by astrumn0x via Citysearch on 3/14/2006

This website had recommended I make a reservation, but when we got there, it turned out that wasn't really necessary (6PM on a Saturday). We ate in the downstairs dining room which was cold, until the heat kicked in. It was a beautiful…

Not good for large (10 or more) parties by mkateg via Citysearch on 2/5/2006

When I arrived with reservations they did not have a table ready for us. They squeezed half of us into a small table while the rest of us stood around the table waiting for other tables to be added for 15minutes. Called ahead with a wine…

Awesome Time by princesslia via Citysearch on 7/31/2005

I went to Lucia on a Saturday night and had a great time. We had the bruschetta, chicken broccoli ziti, and mussels over linguine, all which were excellent. I had a glass of pinot grigio, which had a lot of flavor, and I really enjoyed…

Great Party by novakvm via Citysearch on 6/9/2005

We recently celebrated our daughter's 21st birthday at Lucia's. Since all plans were made long-distance over the phone, we were a bit apprehensive of showing up from out of town for a dinner of 25, even thought we had been there several…
