Penny's from Heaven Photography

Penny and Mike Messer, are the owners of Penny's from Heaven Photography and Fine Art. Penny was handed her first camera as a young girl by her Grandfather and photographer, Percy Abrams. Learning the basics from her father and grandfather made the process easy and enjoyable. "My first pictures were of the mountains out west in 1969 while camping throughout the southwest with my family. Dad and Grandpa would be over my shoulder asking me how I was composing the shot and my love of the craft grew from there. "Mike pursued his professional career in photography over many years as well. "From working in the high school dark room to photographing weddings in film and digital, I have enjoyed capturing images that express a special moment in time for others."Having been born and raised in Michigan, Penny and Mike have a natural love of light houses. Penny and Mike are members of the Crisp Point Lighthouse Historical Society and have had the wonderful opportunity to be lighthouse keepers there several times. Their passion is to photograph Michigan lighthouses and Life Saving Stations making these images available to those who enjoy our maritime history. They have sailed the Great Lakes for nearly 20 years and are students of our state's maritime history. Having experienced the welcoming light from a lighthouse on a foggy lake gives even more meaning to the lonely sentinels. Their images can be viewed at the Swartz Creek Area Gallery locally. Expanding the studio side of the business has been one of the pleasures of growth. "Serving on the board of the Detroit Professional Photographer's Association we have been able to learn from the masters and express ourselves with the growth of experience learned and earned. We know there is much more to learn and are excited to do so with the people we have met and will meet in the future, especially in DPPA."
