New York is located in the southeastern tip of New York state, situated on a large natural harbor on the Atlantic coast. This sizable population is spread out over only 303.31 sqaure miles, making New York the densest major city in the U.S. New York City consists of 5 counties, each of which is also a borough: Manhattan, The Bronx, Brooklyn, Staten Island and Queens.
