The Sena family establishment continues to set the bar high on the Old City culinary scene. The restaurant is suavely chic, in the Florentine mode, mellowed by exposed brick walls and beamed ceilings. Candles gleam, fresh flowers grace the… Read Full Editorial

My Review by jens1668539048 via Citysearch on 5/19/2014

I have been going to this restaurant for many years. The last two years I started to see it slipping a bit, when waiters had been established with the restaurant for many years started to disappear. I went to the restaurant this pass…

Great Service, Average Food by cmr5826 via Citysearch on 12/30/2010

The service at La Fagmiglia is the best I've experienced in a long time. Two weeks ago I flew into Philly with my 5 year old son. Not being familiar with any Italian restaurants in the city, I asked a native on the plane for a referral.…

Always a great meal! by Anonymous9 via Citysearch on 8/2/2009

La Famiglia is the best place to go when you want to have a great, relaxing meal with an awesome bottle (or two) of wine. I am all for BYOB's but I am tired of being rushed through dinner in a cramped, packed, smelly and loud place.

La Famiglia Ristorante is Outstanding by DOT R via Insider Pages on 7/8/2009

Great restaurant. Happy memories of the place. Since I no longer work or am in town often, I have quite forgotten how much I like La Familigia both food and ambience.

Fabulous! by akissinger via Citysearch on 5/28/2009

I recently graduated from graduate school and got my masters. As a gift for this accomplishment, my husband is treating and joining me on a trip to Italy later this summer. I was told that a new chef from Naples, Italy had just started…

amazing! by kmk64 via Citysearch on 5/13/2009

I was recently at La Famiglia and had an amazing dining experience! I found out that they had just hired a new chef (from Naples, Italy) and he created a new menu- everything looked incredible! I love Italian cuisine and always wanted to…

How Romantic by Lori G via Insider Pages on 3/21/2009

My husband and I have been to this restaurant several times. We have never been disappointed. The food is amazing. The service is impeccable. The interior is gorgeous. They have a wine list that fits in a binder about four inches…

The Good, the Bad & the Creepy of La Famiglia by MandyTessa via Citysearch on 1/31/2009

I dined at La Famiglia with my boyfriend on a Friday night during Restaurant Week Jan2009. Perhaps a Restaurant Week experience alone is not a good indication of the quality of a restaurant, but it seems as though La Famiglia has had many…

Italian excellence by Tim D via Insider Pages on 12/10/2008

This is a great Italian restaurant. The food is outstanding The restaurant is located in old city. The steaks are highly recommended. They have a large bar to gather. It does get crowded quickly. It is an upscale restaurant.

excellent food! a must try Italian restaurant. great for large parties, enjoy a large bar area off the restaurant floor as not to disturb diners. a spend a quiet evening enjoying fine Italian food

it was restaurant week.... by jszygiel via Citysearch on 3/15/2008

eh.. it was restaurant week, so you can never really judge a place from a set menu.. you know theyre cranking those particular meals out all night. decent service , decent meal, though my app tasted like sloppy joe from the sea .. id like…

Sena family has featured elegant presentations and upscale Italian dining since 1976. by Contributor via Citysearch on 2/20/2007

In Short
It's classic rococo decor with the requisite frills. Pass through the heavy velvet drapes and enter the small, stone- and marble-adorned dining room. Vivaldi, Verdi and vintage opera recordings fill the air. The menu…

A policy of benign neglect at La Failure. by veryschway via Citysearch on 1/30/2007

I ate there with friends during Restaurant Week. The kindest thing I could say about the waitstaff was that they seemed to be exercising a policy of benign neglect. It was obvious that they took no particular interest in whether we had a…

Still the KING by therestaurantguy via Citysearch on 10/26/2006

I am amazed at some of these reviews, I have been dining at this restaurant for over 15 years and it is still the best. The quality and service are 2nd to none. When I need a lights out romantic dinner this is the spot. Yes, it is…

Nothing to Brag About by babyblues77 via Citysearch on 10/6/2006

I visited La Famiglia during Restaurant Week (September 2006). The service was acceptable, but nothing special. The food was edible, but nothing to brag about. (The eggplant was good though.) I realize a visit outside of Restaurant Week…

horrible restaurant week experience by emoore409 via Citysearch on 9/18/2006

Group of us went to La Famiglia for restaurant week and had a truely aweful night. We didn't even see a (food-stained paper) menu for over an hour. Even at that point I was trying to be understanding because it was a busy night and…

good olde city restuarant by Justin W via Insider Pages on 8/8/2006

If you're looking for a good italian restaurant in olde city, La Famiglia is your choice (rsvp recommended). All the food is made on site, I had the vodka rigatonia, it also came with a salad, that was better than most italian salads…

truely Italian experience by vitalej via Citysearch on 10/15/2002

Wonderful atmosphere, great food, outstanding service. Nothing was overlooked. I had a Mediterranean white fish prepared at tableside in a lobster sauce. It could not have possibly been prepared and served any better. The fish was a…

"Wow", what a suprise after reading some not so flattering reviews here on Philadelphia CitySearch. The service was excellent, the food was terrific. Mr.Guiseppe (one of the owners)was a true gentleman. We arrived a half hour early and…
