The Made in the Shade of Northern Virginia owners, John and Dana Briggs, have been happily married for almost 25 years, and residents of Prince William County for all those years. John was born and raised in Northern Virginia, while Dana hails from the Garden State of New Jersey. Between us, we have over 70 years of living and working in Northern Virginia.

We have two outstanding grown children, and we now reap the benefits of two productive and responsible adult children and five adored grandchildren.

After a rewarding 35-year career in telecommunications, John decided to retire and start a business that would permit him greater flexibility and time to build a business, and investment in community. He began searching for an opportunity to change course, but it had to be a perfect fit. That is when he came across Made in the Shade and the journey began. We really enjoy solving our client’s issues with privacy and lighting while delivering exquisite window décor.
