Potential & Current Members & Buyers Beware! by sonjileblanc on 6/25/2018
Heads up to current & potential members, and those interested in buying this business... In May, Planet Beach's owner sold her business back to previous owner, and this new owner is simply shady.
When I found out he was buying the place back, I went in and he confirmed that he would be honoring my lifetime membership under his new ownership. He even had me sign a new contract with Lifetime Membership on the top. He told me of his plans to break off from the Planet Beach franchise, running this spa under another name (he's already done the same in Anthem).
This week, I get a voice mail from his daughter saying that they have sold the business to Skinetics, and effective July 1, my lifetime membership is no longer valid. What the? They offered me a membership at a special price of $49 a month - odd since they sold the place.
I spoke with the new owner today, and he feels the previous owner made a bad business decision selling lifetime memberships (there are only 10). When I asked him why he's concerned with my membership if there is a new owner coming in, that's when his story shifted dramatically and he admitted there's no buyer taking over July 1, but they're hoping to sell it soon.
One thing is obvious to me; he's trying to dump these lifetime memberships for his own benefit, nothing more. He has little care for the consumer or any potential buyers of the business - if they're really are selling it. I have my doubts.
The new owner thinks that he can do what he pleases with the contracts he assumed - or the new one he signed with me.
I find it amusing that the daughter is trying to sell me a $49/month membership to use under a new ownership, while the father saying he doesn't have to honor a prior owner's contracts. A bit contradictory, no?
Terrible customer service, terrible small business owner, and just plain unprofessional.
