Dr. Van Kooten attended Loyola University New Orleans and received her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry from the University of Florida College of Dentistry. She has since furthered her education with advanced courses in full mouth reconstruction, implant dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, periodontal dentistry, oral surgery, and endodontic dentistry.
For 25 years, Dr. Van Kooten has been a member of the  American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, and 7 years with Monterey County Dental Society.
