Must-Try Vietnamese Dishes. Explore Vietnam one dish at a time!
BEEF STEW NOODLE SOUP / Bò Kho
Bo kho is a delicious Vietnamese pot-roasted beef stew, fragrant with lemongrass, star anise and cinnamon. When the meat is fork tender, carrots are added to complete the dish. If you wish, include turnips or daikon radish or potatoes. Serve it with rice, rice noodles or a freshly baked baguette.
BEEF BROTH NOODLE SOUP / Phở Bò
Phở is a traditional Vietnamese noodle dish. It is composed of a thin white rice noodle, in a clear beef broth, with thin cuts of beef (steak, fatty flank, lean flank, brisket), tendon, tripe, meatballs, or other ingredients such as green onions, white onions, cilantro, basil leaves, lemon or lime, bean sprouts or chilies.
CHICKEN BROTH NOODLE SOUP / Phở Gà
Pho ga, or chicken noodle soup, is the other version of Vietnamese pho. It consists of chopped or shredded free-range chicken, chicken broth, rice noodles, and topped with chopped scallion and thinly sliced lime leaves.
VIETNAMESE SPICY NOODLE SOUP / Bún bò Huế (BBH)
Bún bò Huế or bún bò is a popular Vietnamese rice noodle dish with sliced beef, chả lụa, and sometimes pork knuckles. The dish originates from Huế, a city in central Vietnam associated with the cooking style of the former royal court. The dish has a mix of spicy, salty, and savory flavors.
RICE PLATES / CƠM DĨA
is a popular type of white rice served with many Vietnamese dishes. You often see it in rice plates featuring a combination of grilled meats, egg meatloaf, salad and pickles.
VERMICELLI SALAD BOWL / Bún
Bún rice noodles with mixed proteins, a popular Vietnamese dish of cold rice vermicelli topped with, fresh herbs like basil and mint, fresh salad, giá (bean sprouts), and chả giò (egg rolls). The dish is dressed in nước mam fish sauce (nước chấm). The dish is topped with roasted peanuts, Vietnamese pickled carrots, nem nướng̣ (grilled garlic pork sausage) or grilled prawns.
VIETNAMESE SANDWICHES / Bánh Mì
A typical Vietnamese roll or sandwich is a fusion of meats and vegetables from native Vietnamese cuisine such as chả lụa (Vietnamese sausage), coriander leaf (cilantro), cucumber, pickled carrots, and pickled daikon combined with condiments from French cuisine such as pâté, along with red chili and mayonnaise.
VEGETARIAN / Món ăn không thịt
SMOOTHIES / Sinh Tố
VIETNAMESE COFFEE / Cà Phê Việt Nam
The thing that makes Vietnamese coffee really stand out is its strong taste. This is because the beans are roasted on low heat for fifteen minutes (in most countries, they use machines) and then put into a filter. Slowly, the coffee starts to drip through. That’s also why they call it to drip coffee, or Ca Phe Phin, in Vietnamese.
FRESH ROLLS / Gỏi Cuốn
Fresh Vietnamese spring rolls are made with shrimp, vegetables, herbs, and rice noodles wrapped in rice paper. Vietnamese spring rolls are traditionally served with nước chấm (a dip made of fish sauce), but they’re great with peanut sauce as well.
