Advanced Surgical Associates of West Florida: Richard Gordon, MD

Richard S. Gordon, MD, FACS, FRCSC, FASMBS, is a board-certified general surgeon specializing in bariatric (weight-loss) surgery, robotic/laparoscopic (or minimally invasive) surgeries, anti-reflux (or hiatal hernia) surgery, and other general surgical procedures. He brings over 16 years of experience to Advanced Surgical Associates of West Florida, with offices in Largo and Clearwater and Trinity, Florida. 

Dr. Gordon completed his medical school training at The University of Ottawa in Ontario, Canada, followed by his surgical residency and chief resident year at the Ottawa Hospital. He then completed his fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in Toronto, Canada. 

He specializes in minimally-invasive robotic surgery and is a proud member of Tampa Bay Surgical Group, LLC. 

Dr. Gordon is on staff at Morton Plant Hospital, Mease Countryside Hospital, Mease Dunedin Hospital, and Largo Medical Center. He is involved in the residency teaching program at Largo Medical Center, educating future surgeons.

As a general, laparoscopic, and bariatric surgeon, Dr. Gordon treats conditions and performs procedures related to general and bariatric surgery, including sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, gastric balloon placement, anti-reflux and hiatal hernia surgery (including LINX), gallbladder removal, appendectomy, hernia repairs, bowel and colon surgeries, hemorrhoidectomy, breast cancer surgery, skin lesion surgery, colonoscopy, and EGD.

He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Royal Canadian College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the Society of Advanced Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and a fellow of the American Society of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgeons (ASMBS).
