Research proves citizens who are homeless and have gone through traumatic life experiences have become fearful and distrustful of service providers or ambivalent about changing their daily routine. It may take multiple attempts and creative engagement strategies to help some of these individuals overcome ambivalence and accept offers and the possibility of permanent housing. Our intent is to gain the trust of these individuals, assess and provide their immediate needs through various activities and programs.

We not only provide shelter for veterans to stay and various life skills and training, we also offer holistic approaches by (i) integrating music therapy into most of our programs and initating horticultural therapy through building, planting and harvesting a garden. We believe these holistic approaches will be an extension of our therapy initiative for our clients with mental health issues, such as PTSD, depression and anxiety. It is imperative to us that we offer a transitional home that will display a sense of home to our clients – without the institutional atmosphere but a comfortable and nourishing place to motivate them into “doing the work” to get into permanent housing as soon as possible.
