In Short
All of the "greatest hits" of kosher cuisine are available, from potato kugel and roast brisket to stuffed cabbage and barbecue chicken. The dining crowd, mostly local and filled with repeat customers, ranges from… Read Full Editorial
Once great, Now fallen to the bottom in quality by dabro via Citysearch on 11/12/2010
WOW serving old dried out corn beef...?? it is dry because it is lean is what the said... I would avoid this once great deli as the standards of quality have fallen so far down. I ordered a lean corn beef sandwich and it was tasteless, it…
Decent corned beef, yummy latkes by gethebassics via Citysearch on 4/22/2010
My uncle has been coming here ever since he was growing up in Newton! It's a family favorite, but as a college kid, I usually only go when my parents treat because it can be a bit overpriced. The corned beef is good; doesn't compare to the…
good by heather b via Insider Pages on 1/26/2010
Very good quality and clean but very restricted if your not used to Kosher food. The prices can be too high also.
Over Priced and Understuffed by JemmaFoodie via Citysearch on 8/15/2009
My boyfriend and I went in search of some authentic kosher food and we found Rubin's was the "Best of Boston" 2008. How could we go wrong? Apparently Boston is unaware of how deli food should taste if this is the best. We were famished and…
Good for Boston, but no competition by Amber K via Insider Pages on 7/30/2009
Rubins is pretty good but it's no New York kosher deli. It's basically the only one in Boston so they don't have much competition. But the food is pretty good overall. Nothing to write home about.
Best in the area by Glenn K via Insider Pages on 7/30/2009
As has been said it's not on the level of a good NYC deli but in Boston this is the best you'll find. And it is good, too, with all the options you'd expect and a good take-out counter.
NY Kosher deli by Testadura via Citysearch on 5/12/2009
I don't know where this guy get's off calling this a NY Kosher deli - but it is far from it, except for the smell. Cold, flavorless food at exorbitant prices. If you've ever been to a Kosher deli in crucible of Kosher deli's in NYC then…
My Favorite Comfort Food by msfraklein via Citysearch on 4/22/2009
Keeping kosher is important to me, and I love good beef, so Rubin's is a favorite haunt of mine. I keep coming back for their bar-b-q dinner or wrap. On a cold day, I enjoy the chicken soup and open-faced turkey on marble rye. Yummy…
For kosher deli in Boston there isn't anything even close by Dan K via Insider Pages on 1/30/2008
Rubin's Kosher Deli has basically never failed me when it comes to quality kosher food. They have just about every meat dish you can even think of. There is also a gourmet menu with some additional specials that you won't find at most…
Pickles to Die For by Isabelle E. via Judy's Book on 5/30/2007
Great lean corn beef , good coleslaw, excellent rye bread but pickles to die for. I would return here just for the pickles. Our service was pretty good and I have no complaints about how long it took to place our order or to get our food.…
Free pickles from a kind employee on a snowy day by Amanda R. via Judy's Book on 4/2/2006
One cold day I was walking through Brookline, on my way home, when it started to snow. It came out of nowhere and came down hard, so by the time I got halfway down Harvard Street my feet were wet, my hair was covered in snowflakes and I…
Good Kosher by mlg26 via Citysearch on 3/21/2006
Food: Omelettes come with fresh fruit, hamburger is ground on site, and deserts are home-made. The menu offers classic Jewish Deli items (corned beef, pastrami, chop liver, tongue) as well as breakfast and dinner items, soups, salads and…
Good Jewish Deli Food by tigerstop via Citysearch on 2/26/2006
I felt moved to add a review given the nature of the other two online reviews which are complete garbage. If your looking for good meats and the genuine "Deli Experience" your here. The patrons, mostly locals, underscore that and the line…
Reasonably Priced Kosher Dining by Rose W. via Judy's Book on 7/30/2005
I've been going in to Rubin's for spur-of-the-moment dining for over a year now. Despite the service occasionally being on the slow side, their food has never disappointed me. The staff is friendly, and the portions are large and hearty.…

If you've every been to a really lousy New York Deli, you'll find yourself in familiar territory at Rubin's. This place may be run by Jewish People and it may be a deli, but there's a major disconnect somewhere in there. I bought lox and…
