Research shows that acupuncture works by enhancing the body’s natural healing response and restoring harmony and balance. Over a long period, stress, worry, upset, anger, prolonged grief, depression, habit patterns or physical injury can contribute to the disharmony of Qi and create an imbalance of yin and yang in the body.

Qi, pronounced “chee,” is your vital energy or life force. Qi flows along pathways in the body known as meridians. These meridians relate to the five-elements of water, wood, fire, earth and metal and correspond to specific functions within in the body, from emotional to physical to spiritual. When Qi is out of balance, then symptoms of disease or pain can occur. Acupuncture works by restoring and harmonizing the Qi to create greater health and wellness.

My approach to treatment is to support a person on a constitutional level using the principles of 5 Element acupuncture for the majority of patients I see. Five Element acupuncture is one of the most powerful treatment options for working on a deep level of the mind and spirit. You can learn more about 5 Element acupuncture by downloading my free ebook, How to Thrive in the Modern World.

I hold 5 Element acupuncture in high regard because I see that so many people in our modern world are struggling to gain clarity about their life purpose. Because of this, many people suffer from stagnation and being stuck. Even though they are functioning, they feel alienated, stressed, overwhelmed and unable to move forward to fully embrace life.

Simply put, many people feel like they have lost themselves. Five Element acupuncture is primarily intended to get YOU back . . . the big YOU that wants to grow, be healthy, and fully alive. Until this happens, all treatment will only put a bandage on the real issue.

At Baltimore Acupuncture Center, I use 8 principle acupuncture when patients need more immediate relief from pain or symptoms, however, depending on your unique needs, 5 element acupuncture can also work wonders on acute conditions. 8 principle style of acupuncture is most commonly taught and used by acupuncturists in the states. I work to combine 5 element and 8 principle acupuncture to offer you a truly comprehensive an integrative approach to treatment.

Add to this combination the possibilities of nutritional counseling, fitness and guided stress reduction exercises, and you have a very potent and synergistic blend of therapies that can get you back on track in your life. This multi-layered approach is often what it takes to make real change in our modern world, as there are so many forces out there that prevent us from optimal health and wellness.
