Michael Emmer, MD, is a caring and experienced physician who offers personalized primary care services for adolescent, adult, and elderly patients in and around Bethesda, Maryland, at Bethesda Endocrinology. Dr. Emmer, who is board-certified in both endocrinology and internal medicine, has been in practice for more than 40 years and dedicates himself to one-on-one patient care with a focus on finding the best medical treatment options for every individual.
Dr. Emmer offers primary care services, annual physical exams, and management of diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, menopause, and thyroid issues, along with weight loss support and counseling.
Dr. Emmer began his education at Brooklyn College in Brooklyn, New York, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry. He then attended New York University School of Medicine in New York City for his medical doctorate. After his medical studies, Dr. Emmer completed his internship and residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
Dr. Emmer then completed a competitive fellowship in endocrinology at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, the premier honors society for medical professionals. Dr. Emmer has been in private practice in Bethesda since 1970.
Dr. Emmer and his staff, many of whom have more than 30 years of experience, offer same-day appointments, and they dedicate one-on-one time to every patient, listening to concerns and answering questions thoroughly.
