Julio Gomez, DO

Julio Gomez, D.O., is a rehabilitation physician who specializes in nonsurgical treatment of acute and chronic injuries and conditions that affect muscles, joints, tendons and ligaments, with a focus on back pain and spine rehabilitation. He works with patients to develop tailored rehabilitation plans that may include medication, rehabilitation therapy, injections and other minimally invasive procedures. His care approach centers on patient education and autonomy; he strives to help each person find their path to regaining function, independence and confidence. 

Dr. Gomez is a major in the U.S. Air Force (USAF), actively serving as a flight surgeon with the District of Columbia Air National Guard. He holds the position of chief of aerospace medicine for the 113th Wing at Andrews Air Force Base. Dr. Gomez has more than a decade of experience as a USAF attending physician and flight surgeon, and earned an Air Medal for his service. He served for four years respectively with the USAF at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida and the New Jersey Air National Guard, 177th Fighter Wing based in Atlantic City, New Jersey. In these roles, he cared for fighter pilots and pararescue tactical team members who had acute injuries. This experience cemented his passion for interventional spine care and musculoskeletal medicine, and for helping people improve and restore function.

A double major at The Pennsylvania State University in University Park, Dr. Gomez earned bachelor’s degrees in kinesiology/movement science and nutritional science. He obtained his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, followed by a general surgery internship there. He completed a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Temple University Hospital/MossRehab in Philadelphia, where he served as chief resident and was recognized as the resident of the year in 2020. He then completed a clinical fellowship in interventional spine and musculoskeletal medicine at the Revive Spine and Pain Center in Marlton, New Jersey.

After work, Dr. Gomez likes to spend time and travel with his family.
