Anna Maria Izquierdo-Porrera, MD, PhD

Anna Maria Izquierdo-Porrera, MD, PhD, is a geriatrician at TidalHealth Geriatrics with more than 25 years of experience caring for older adults. She is dedicated to promoting healthy aging through patient-centered care, clinical leadership and system-wide quality improvement.

Dr. Izquierdo-Porrera earned her medical degree from the Universitat de Barcelona and completed her internal medicine residency at Franklin Square Hospital in Baltimore, where she served as chief resident. She went on to complete a geriatrics fellowship at the University of Maryland and holds a PhD in Medicine focused on cardiovascular health in older adults. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Organizational Leadership with research on healthcare diversity and leadership.

A respected educator and advocate, Dr. Izquierdo-Porrera has held faculty appointments at several universities and led community initiatives supporting aging in place, caregiver support, and end-of-life care. She has served on the Montgomery County Commission on Aging, the Latino Health Steering Committee, and co-founded the Community Coalition for Life-Long Wellness.
