Questions and Answers

.."but it's only supposed to be 10%...Why is it higher?"
All bonds start at 10% of the full bond amount. However, if the Defendant fails to appear on his case, the company may increase the premium. That is because the Defendant is a higher risk. More likely to fail to appear in Court. Bail Bondsman are governed and licensed by the Missouri Department of Insurance. Just as you would expect to pay a higher premium for car insurance when you have been in an accident, so also you will pay a higher premium to bail out. However even so, it's cheaper than most other companies, and the Court itself.
Why should I use your company?
If you don't have the full bond amount set by the Court, you should use Bailman Bonding to post the bond because it's WAY cheaper for you. You pay a low fraction of the bond instead of the whole thing. If the Defendant goes to all his appearances there are no other charges to pay. If you decide to not use a Surety/ Bail Bondsman you have to pay the WHOLE bond in cash at the jail and upon final disposition in the case, all of the defendants fines, fees, and Court costs will be taken out of the refund. Your money will be tied up for months or years while the case goes through the judicial process.
What happens if the Defendant does not appear in Court?
You, as the Co-Signer will be responsible for the full set bond amount and/or any other charges that are associated with returning or attempting the return of the Defendant to jail. These include Bounty Hunter fees, fuel/ mileage charges, Hotel/ Airline/ rental car charges, private investigator charges, etc.. If collateral is given, that collateral may be sold to cover the fees/ charges, and/or full set bond upon a judgement to the Sureties.
Can I get the money back?
No. The premium is NEVER returned. If you want it to be refundable you have to pay the full set bond amount to the jail. So if the set bond amount is $5,000.00 then you pay $5,000.00 . In doing so, the bail bondsman is not needed. This is a "Cash Bond".
How much do I have to pay?
All bonds start out at 10% of the set bond amount. An example is if the Court or the jail sets a bond at $5,000.00 then the "premium" or fee to make the bond would be $500.00 .
What is a Surety Bond?
Surety Bonds are all bail bonds that can be written by a bail bond company. They are NOT "Cash Only" , "10 percent to the court", "Signature bonds" or "Own Recognizance bonds" Surety Bonds are accepted in Missouri on MOST cases.
