Katiedid Photography

Hi there, I'm Katie Foster, a wedding photographer in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

?Growing up, my grandfather and I were two peas in a pod. I was raised by him and my grandmother until she died of cancer when I was seven. It was just the two of us, Gramps and I, for years until my mom became well enough to move in.

When I was in high school Gramps became so ill he ended up in a nursing home. I was worried about him. I wanted to keep him connected to the world, and to me.

?So, I started taking photos of my day and brought them with me on our visits. We would look at them and, as we sat together, those photos opened up everything. They took him away from the nursing home and opened up a line of communication for us. The end result was they brought some joy to us in a sad time of our life together.

?Now I believe in the power of a photograph. My goal is to use that power to bring joy.
