If filling or bonding isn’t enough to repair damaged teeth, crowns are a great way to recover your smile. Crowns will support the existing tooth and ensure no other problems can develop.
If you are missing one or more teeth a bridge may be the best option to replace the missing teeth. When a bridge is created, the teeth on either side of the missing tooth/teeth will be used as anchors for the bridge that will extend across the gap. Bridges are strong and durable, made from gold, metal or porcelain.
Root canal therapy involves treatment of the tooth's pulp, removing the infected nerve tissue to allow the patient to retain their natural tooth. Removing the infected nerve tissue will keep the infection from becoming a more serious issue that may require an extraction.
Composite fillings act as a dentistry solution for problems such as tooth decay or cracks. A composite filling is a tooth-colored plastic and glass mixture used to restore decayed teeth. This procedure is also utilized for cosmetic improvements of the smile by fixing any discoloration or reshaping any disfigured teeth.
Digital dental X-rays are internal images of your teeth and jaws. Dentists use x-rays to examine structures they can't see, and to and diagnose a wide variety of oral health issues. Digital radiographs and x-rays use less radiation exposure and provide faster imaging compared to traditional dental X-ray machines.

Dentures are replacement teeth that can restore your mouth to its full constitution based on any tooth or teeth loss you have had. At Deerfield Family Dentistry we want you to have the best process to connect your mouth back to a full smile, involving you in the selection of tooth shade and shape. When everything has been done to save an existing permanent tooth, sometimes it may need to be extracted. Deerfield Family Dentistry performs extractions and removal on loose, decayed or broken teeth, as well as wisdom tooth extractions before they can cause problems.
Wisdom teeth can cause problems as they begin to emerge through the gums. An impacted wisdom tooth, one coming in at an angle and not straight through the gums, can make the tooth difficult to clean, cause pain, and increase the risk of infection. Deerfield Family Dentistry performs extractions and removal on loose, decayed or broken teeth, as well as wisdom tooth extractions before they can cause problems.
The most important way to ensure excellent oral health is with a personal dental hygiene routine which includes regular (twice a year) in office cleanings. Regular dental cleanings allow us to identify and treat gum disease (gingivitis), educate you about oral hygiene, and allow the dentist to complete an oral cancer screening and thorough examination of your teeth.
Your gums are essential to oral hygiene as well. If your gums are sub-par we provide periodontal (official word for gums) deep cleanings and treatment.
For patients with dental anxiety, Deerfield Family Dentistry offers sedation dentistry and nitrous oxide. Please call the office to discuss, so we can tailor your dental procedure to your specific needs.
Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome (TMJ) is an umbrella term used to describe any form of dysfunction involving the joints found in the temporomandibular area. Symptoms can include muscle spasms and swelling, cracked or damaged teeth, facial pain and enlarged lymph nodes in the neck. When Botox is injected into the muscles around the temporomandibular joint, it causes the jaw muscles to relax, reducing the tension in the joint. This can provide relief from the pain and discomfort associated with TMJ.
Sealants are a thin, protective coating (made from plastic or other dental materials) that adheres to the chewing surface of your teeth. They’re no substitute for brushing and flossing, but they can keep cavities from forming and may even stop early stages of decay from becoming a full-blown cavity. Children and adults can benefit from sealants, but the earlier you get them, the better. The doctor will help you determine if sealants are a good option for you and your family.
Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that helps prevent tooth decay. Fluoride treatment involves applying a gel, foam or liquid fluoride compound directly to your teeth during a dental visit. This quick and simple in-office treatment is often recommended for children to prevent early cavities. Adults may also benefit from receiving fluoride treatments, depending on their oral health needs. Deerfield Family Dentistry also sells fluoridated toothpaste and mouthwash for at-home treatment.
