National Sportswear of Belleville, NJ

National Sportwear was established in 1947 as a felt, embroidery and silk screen athletic lettering service company. We catered to many sports stores in northern New Jersey. Our companies original name was Red Diamond Co., named after the infantry division in which our founder served in WWII. Early in 1955 we started doing all the athletic lettering for Russell Athletic from Main to West Virginia. In 1966 we moved to our present location. We changed from an athletic lettering service company to a factory outlet, calling it National Sportwear, screening and embroidering only the sportswear and team uniforms we sold. Our current showroom, located in the corner of our factory building, was opened four years later.
