About this business

Gramma Mora's Mexican Restaurant began in 1980 when Mercedes and son Charles opened their first eatery on Niagara Street. Despite a 1996 fire that razed the original spot, the family's resilience led to a new Hertel Avenue location in 1999, now adorned with the iconic Gramma Mora's sign. With over 40 years of excellence, the restaurant, named after Charles' grandmother, Juliana Mora, has become synonymous with authentic Mexican cuisine in Buffalo. The Giovino family's dedication is evident, from overcoming setbacks to expanding in 1987 and introducing frozen specialties in 1994. Today, Gramma Mora's legacy endures, offering a traditional family setting and a rich tapestry of Mexican flavors to delighted customers.

Disgrace! by Rtg via Menuism on 6/2/2013

This place should be burned to the ground. Our experience started with poor service -waiting 10 minutes...

Excellent by Ruby J via Insider Pages on 6/4/2011

Makes you feel like family. Drinks are delishous and priced spot on. Food is great, I had enchiladas and sopa. I love the option of rice beans or sopa, being allergic to beans this is always a problem at other Mexican places. Certainly…

great place by erik2011 via Citysearch on 1/30/2011

i've been going to grandma's mora's for over 10 years, i've never had a bad experience. love the wetter burrito, the guac. nacos, the seafood nacos & seafood enchilladas. they have dos equis and its very reasonably priced. great…

DONT GO PLEASE!! by asaldd via Citysearch on 2/1/2010

I truly should have went to Taco Bell or Mighty Taco because there food is way better. I asked if it was authentic food and if the cook was Mexican. Maybe they replied to what I wanted to hear but this food is not authentic. The…

Loved it by foodie135 via Citysearch on 12/10/2008

First of all, let me say that I have been to my fair share of Mexican restaurants and I loved this one! I thought the food was great and fairly priced. As far as the people who didnt get great service, I did not have that experience. I…

Disgusting, disgusting, disgusting by whateverwhateveryeah via Citysearch on 9/13/2008

This place is a horrid mess. We got there, waited 10 minutes to be seated because there were no waitresses in sight. The place wasn't very busy at all. When we finally got seated, it took 1/2 for the waitress to finally take our order. …

Better than Reviewed by joe0622 via Citysearch on 8/30/2008

Overall, this was a very nice Mexican place. Not the best I've ever had, but I haven't had what I would consider great Mexican food in Buffalo yet. I'm the type of person who likes to read the reviews on here before I try a place, so…

Poor Mexican Food by Adam K via Insider Pages on 3/1/2008

Gramma Moras comes highly advertised. However, the food tastes lcanned and microwaved, and the salsa resembles spaghetti sauce. The bottled Mexican Beer is ok.

I was drunk, and it still tasted bad! by ykim via Citysearch on 2/1/2008

I had sworn off going to Grandma Mora's after my first trip there (their hot sauce was Franks?!), but I went back, in case the first time was a fluke. My experience was not any different. I had the taco salad, and was taken aback when I…

Worst mexican (if u can call it that) by rwalley211 via Citysearch on 1/15/2007

Bad, smelly unauthentic Mexican food. If you are looking for good mex, Mighty Taco would be a better bet.\r \r The salsa was actually spaghetti sauce, with oregano and everything. YUCK!!

We Love Gramma Mora! by need2checkitout via Citysearch on 10/5/2006

This is one of the best mexican restaurants! Their homemade chips and salsa are complimentary when you arrive and are to die for! Their refried beans are so good - not the typical mush you usually get at mexican restaurants - there are…

Homemade chorizo, frijoles and enchiladas make up the authentic Mexican menu at this inexpensive eatery, which also offers margaritas and cervezas.

Not what it used to be by Joy C via Insider Pages on 11/9/2005

I remember going to the original Gramma Moras a child. Even back then, I loved it! We recently went again and it was just awful. We had a friend from out of town with us and I was just embarressed. The food was blah. No other word…

Not Good by mah976 via Citysearch on 8/4/2005

Well when it comes down to it we left mad. Everything was so processed tasting and the waitress could've cared less about her job. Never will go back.

Excellent Mexican Food by Ann S via Insider Pages on 7/24/2005

Gramma Moras is a relaxed Mexican restaurant. The food portions are plentiful and inexpensive. The drinks, while pretty, are not very flavorful. A Mexican restaurant should have excellent Margaritas and while the traditional Margarita…

User review by pjdipirro by pjdipirro via Citysearch on 5/19/2005

The food is always excellent. The homemade chips and salsa have been a favorate of mine for years. Food is authentic, and if you like spicy, there are items on the menu that will challenge your tolerance. Have been going for years,…

The sunny, spicy flavors from south of the border come alive at Gramma's. by Contributor via Citysearch on 8/18/2003

The Scene
Mexican restaurants are few and far between in the cities on America's northern border, but Gramma Mora's brings an authentic taste of Mexico to Buffalo. After fire destroyed the long-standing restaurant on Niagara…
