Established in 1892, Jake's has a patina of burnished woods, deep colors, and polished panache befitting a restaurant that's well into its second century. Oversize booths and cozy tables are scattered throughout several rooms, making this… Read Full Editorial

My Review by PDX Diner via Citysearch on 9/27/2012
Way too slow last time. 3.5 hours to eat dinner due to incredibly slow service. Food was great, but overall experience was miserable.

Violently ill after eating Jake's seafood by Angie B Johnson via Citysearch on 8/17/2011
I got a horrific case of food poisoning after eating shrimp at this restaurant. I contacted them by phone and email to let them know about it, and never received a response. I was ill with SEVERE stomach cramps, vomiting and diarrhea for…
Eat the menu, not the fish. by Ray Strother via Citysearch on 6/6/2011
If one could eat reputation and history, this would perhaps be a good restaurant. However, if one likes and appreciates seafood, stay far away from Jakes. At one point I considered putting salt on the menu and eating it. It would have had…
First Visit - So Disappointed by Presentnow via Citysearch on 5/30/2011
The history of this famous Portland restaurant was the best part. And, the atmosphere is very happening. I love seafood. I had the worst fish and chips I've ever eaten. I don't treat myself to them often, and I thought oh they will be…
Jake's Was a Hit! by Dorothea Lander via Citysearch on 4/6/2011
Super-gracious host welcomed us, above & beyond gracious waiter suggested the best food we've ever eaten at any restaurant. Excellent presentation of food. Try the Oven Roasted Crab & Shrimp Stuffed Salmon with dessert of Chocolate Bag…

This is my husband and mine's favorite place to eat. The dungeness crab tortellini and the stuff salmon are amazing!! We even got engaged at this restaurant... they printed the proposal on the top of my menu :) If you love seafood you…

A fond reunion by LostWages via Citysearch on 1/10/2011
Had not been to Jakes for many years - just too busy trying all of the new restaurants in PDX. However this weekend our plans changed last minute and our friend suggested Jakes and we were able to get a table.\r

A sad state of affairs by James Hill via Citysearch on 10/28/2010
Once my favorite but no more. Somethings need to change and evolve but Jake's.....no way....no how and yet you've become just a shadow of your old self.\r

Your food is at best mediocre....servers still wear their smiles but seem distant…
Clam Chowder by tsierra via Citysearch on 10/17/2010
5-stars for the clam chowder. I was a bit dissapointed that McCormick and Schmick's did not have the clam chowder on their menu (reallly, a seafood restaraunt without clam chowder!). Luckily this outpost is a few blocks away and serves…
Outstanding Happy Hour and More by ptldfoodlover via Citysearch on 8/16/2010
If you know Stumptown you know about Jakes. The lunches and dinners are still excellent after all these years. Even more so their Happy Hour will make anyone happy, and if your hungry, you're in luck - the HH food is superb and the pricing…
The BEST by funducko via Citysearch on 7/25/2010
I have been going to Jakes since I was a child and have great memories. Have done a lot of traveling and have not found a better restaurant. Service is fantastic and the food is excellent. A great value for the food and service

Best service by rising via Citysearch on 3/22/2010
We went two times the week of Christmas. I thought we would get bad service because they were so busy but boy was I wrong. I think we had the best service at Jakes than we have had in a whole year anywhere else.
And the crab was delicious!
OK... I could never figure out the hype. by hooleywho via Citysearch on 2/2/2010
Jakes is a Portland institution but I am not sure why, maybe because it was established when there wasn't much compation? It always has good solid service and good solid food but that is the problem they are happy with good and therefore…
wonderful seafood by Lungdoc via Citysearch on 1/5/2010
We stumbled upon this place quite by accident and were impressed by a very complete menu of fresh seafood that was well prepared and presented. Excellent service by Mike our waiter. We cannot wait to go back.
