PASSIONAL Boutique & Sexploratorium

PASSIONAL Boutique & Sexploratorium started as a catalog business and later retail store known as Fetishes Boutique in the beginning of 1996. The store name was changed to PASSIONAL in 2004.
In 2007 we opened a new store called Sexploratorium a few doors down from our original PASSIONAL location.
From 2007-2016, PASSIONAL Boutique and Sexploratorium have functioned as two separate entities, with two separate product lines that are sold on separate websites, audiences, phone numbers, addresses/ floors, and they continue to promote these separate product lines on separate blogs and social networks.

PASSIONAL Boutique: Corsets Fashion Passion
PASSIONAL Boutique is our first floor boutique of transformational and cutting edge fashions for all body types, sizes and genders. We stock multiple styles in many sizes from X-small - 8XL in some brands including our own brand of leather apparel.

PASSIONAL offers unique special services that were created to better serve our audiences:
1. Special order or made-to measure custom clothing in leather as well as corsets through some of our local and international designers.
2. Private shopping appointments for customers seeking privacy.
3. Space rental of patio or community room for small private events like brunches, bridal party consultations, or even weddings.

PASSIONAL product categories fall under these headings: Menswear and Womensear to differentiate fashion styles and cuts as well as Fantasywear, including clothing specifically designed specifically for diversity in gender expression or for fetishistic function and roleplay.

PASSIONAL sells products online at www.PassionalBoutique.com as well as in-store on the first floor of 317 South St. and at several festivals and conventions every year.


Company History:

KDM Enterprises (our company name) began doing business as Fetishes Boutique in 1996 as a Philadelphia home-based catalog business. Originally, products were sold in the home of owner Kali Morgan as well as at local clubs, regional conventions and through mail order catalog and website. The original brick and mortar Fetishes Boutique retail store was opened on 5th and Bainbridge Streets in February of 1998 on weekends only with in-store classes and events during the week.

Fetishes Boutique sponsored many weekly and monthly parties off-site as well, with the main regular events being the annual Diabolique Fetish Masquerade Ball (co-founded with Delicious Corsets), the interactive Café Kink play party, the summer Libertine Ball. Fetishes Boutique additionally sponsored Sexpeditions Tours, and Live Arts/ Fringe Festival performances as well as the short-lived improvisational Kink Kabaret weekly theater events and Y2Kink mini-fetish ball parties.

Once the store opened, Fetishes Boutique (snail-) mailed out hundreds of monthly newsletters and emails and in 1999 began publishing PASSIONAL Magazine as a local fetish events, news and “how-to” guide for folks in the local BDSM community.

In January 2004, we changed our d/b/a (doing business as) name of the business to PASSIONAL after Fetishes Boutique was excluded from certain trade shows and opportunities due to the name and nature of the business. The monthly PASSIONAL Magazine was relaunched as a fashion, sex advice, and news publication and was distributed nationally and in news boxes around the city. Aphrodite Gallery was started as a full time art gallery within the store dedicated to sex positive art hosted to our Passion 101 Classes (originally known as Fantasy Workshops) educational programming.

In the late summer of 2007, we acquired a second building on 5th St. that became Sexploratorium – a separate brand that was Philadelphia’s first boutique devoted exclusively to sex education. Aphrodite Gallery arts and all sexuality resources and products moved into the new three-story building on South Street, re-defining PASSIONAL as a fashion boutique specializing in corsets, fetish gear, kilts, and clubwear. With a newly expanded staff of about 10 people on any given week, we staffed two stores and kept many programs going.

In June 2013, we were forced to move out of the larger Sexploratorium store and we ended up landing in our current spacious home at 317 South Street, where PASSIONAL Boutique continues as its own brand from the first floor (and basement) of the building, and Sexploratorium continues its own store, brand and department on our newly combined website from the 2nd (and third) floor of the building.
