Psychiatric nurse practitioners fill the need in the nation's mental health care system for a biopsychosocial approach to managing the care of individual's diagnosed with a psychiatric disorder. Combined treatment of psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy, and psychosocial interventions have been found to be an effective approach in treating individuals.
