See, Mid Atlantic Talent Associates (MATA) formed out of a belief that clients deserve better from their agency, starting from the top down with the agency’s president.

To that end, MATA does not charge customers a fee until a client is hired for a job. There may be minor expenses for printing, postage, and mailing supplies as needed, although we do not charge a fee for representing our clients until placement has been successfully made. This distinction is important because so many agencies do charge clients for representation regardless of whether or not they’re hired for a job. That’s exploitative in our view and thus—unacceptable.

The modeling industry is changing all the time to meet the needs and expectations of the hiring companies, although that doesn’t mean creative professionals should be permitted to forget about maintaining standards. On the contrary, it means talent scouts should be able to clearly define what they stand for, as MATA does. As we began by saying, MATA does not operate under a false narrative or with unrealistic expectations, as so many other agencies do. Whether a hiring company uses a model for her hands, face, or smile, the industry is famously fickle, unpredictable, and demanding. As a consequence, not all interested parties will be a perfect pair. If an opportunity arises, it’s imperative not to be late or miss appointments, as the industry is notorious for withholding second chances!
