John Ference, DMD, MDS, MPH, MSS

A board-certified prosthodontist with a distinguished career of military service, Dr. John Ference provides advanced care and training as the director of MUSC’s unique Digital Dentistry residency.

He previously directed predoctoral prosthodontic training at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. He served in a variety of command and staff positions with the U.S. Army from 1980-2018.

Dr. Ference holds graduate degrees in dental science, public health, strategic leadership, and chemistry.

A past president of the Pennsylvania Prosthodontic Association, he also brings a wealth of knowledge in using artificial intelligence to design maxillofacial prosthetics through additive and subtractive manufacturing.
