Todd David Merchen, MD

Todd Merchen, MD, is Director of the Solid Organ Transplant Center and Chief of Solid Organ Transplant Surgery at Prisma Health in Greenville, South Carolina.

Dr. Merchen's special interests include kidney and pancreas transplantation, advanced laparoscopic surgery (donor nephrectomy, liver resection), hepatobiliary surgery, dialysis access surgery and general surgery in the renal failure population.

Merchen received his medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, Georgia. Following medical school, he completed his residency in general surgery at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, and a fellowship in liver, kidney and pancreas transplant surgery at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in Cincinnati.

Merchen also serves as an associate professor with the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville. He is a member of the American Society of Transplant Surgery, the American Society of Transplantation and the American College of Surgery.
