Six (6) out of five stars! by Scott T. on 4/19/2023 I want to give a HUGE shout-out to Houston Construction. When we tired of our flagstone shifting and mortar that kept coming up, we decided to tear it all up and have a new patio poured. Houston Construction exceeded our expectations with their work. From helping us with a design for the patio, steps to our basement door, and a sidewalk from the backyard to the driveway, they knew exactly what they were doing. They didn't overlook any details, including the grade so water wouldn't pool up, drainage in our flower beds, and placement of expansion joints that blended in with the stamped lines so you really don't notice them. They were on time, as well. Two days after we signed the contract, they were hard at work, and finished well under the expected time. Jim and Daren were always willing to answer any questions we had and went way beyond things agreed to in our contract.Out of five stars, I would give Houston Construction six (6) for their excellent work and follow-up weeks after they finished. Ripped off a military vet! by shadowviper83 on 7/23/2021 I contacted Houston Construction to redo my pool deck, driveway, porches & stamp it all. I was given a quote in November 2020, the owner called me over and over telling me they're ready to get started when I was. They all seemed very nice and professional. In the middle of June 2021, I had them start, they demoed my pool deck causing serious damage to my pool, they promised it would take 2 to 3 weeks weather permitting. It has exceeded that time of weather permitting days, I experienced several days of no call no show, promised they would come one day and never showed up, now they are not responding. I decided to do some digging and found they are not licensed to do the work they bided on, yet the state requires them to be licensed. They took $20K which is 90% of the job for the backyard pool deck and abandoned the job, leaving me with a damaged pool and a torn-up and unsafe pool deck and second back yard. The pictures are exactly what my backyard pool deck looks like now. I also had an inspector come and explained that the drains they installed need to be removed and re-done because they are improperly done and will create flooding.
