About this business

At Tupinamba Cafe, you are more than a patron. You are part of a story that began in 1910, when Papa Froylan Dominguez fled Mexico during the height of the Mexican Revolution with a handful of cherished family recipes. He and his wife, Consuelo, began serving those recipes with the opening of the first Tupinamba in 1947, where it is believed that the Nacho and Sour Cream Enchilada were introduced to Dallas.
As the oldest family-owned Mexican Food Restaurant in the city, the Dominguez family proudly serves the same delicious recipes. We invite you to be part of a story that started as a family tradition and has turned into a Dallas legend.

Great food and atmosphere by KELLY L via Insider Pages on 3/10/2008

Family run and great food. Large place, good for parties. Always a wait during lunch time, but worth it! Great big full bar also. Killer margaritas. Even if you are not an Aggies fan, you will love this place.

Great Tex-Mex by G V via Insider Pages on 3/7/2008

I have eaten here a several times and every time the food has been wonderful, the waiters are friendly, and prices are good. The atmosphere is a little on the noisy side, but it's crowded because the food is good!

Best thing the Aggies have ever done by David F via Insider Pages on 2/17/2008

Yep, it's run by a family of Aggies and they are proud of it ... pictures and a giant emblem adorn the walls. Despite that, the food is good, salsa is great and prices are reasonable. Service is efficient if not overly warm. Big crowds…

Great Family Restaurant by Angela D via Insider Pages on 9/6/2005

This family friendly restaurant is great. Known for their Tupy Tacos - you can't leave without having one. They are delicious. Large menu selection and great prices.
