About this business

Yia Yia Mary's, opened in 2005, is named for the Pappas family's grandmother ("yia yia" is Greek for “grandmother”) and is a story of the family history, reflected through the recipes passed down by family members. Yum! Yum! by Rekaya via Citysearch on 10/4/2011

One of my favorite restaurants for Greek food in town. The food is always excellent and there is lots of parking (just follow the signs). My favorite is the Keftedes, herb rice and lemon potatoes. The jumbo shrimp appetizer is also…

baked feta cheese all the way by joseph99 via Citysearch on 7/10/2011

The parking lot is confusing but the food is right all the way, they have happy hours between 3-6pm so I would advise you all to pay them a visit and try there menu!

Great Greek Food by James M via Insider Pages on 4/3/2011

I love this place. I go there regularly. It's a Pappas restaraunt so I expect a certain quality from them. They've done a great job - have the sagnaki. And I also recommend the lamb chops - umm ummm.

Greasy food and less than excellent service by Mary ann via Citysearch on 9/19/2010

Unless you like greasy food and a noisy ambiance, I would avoid this restaurant. Personally, I do not like either.

SOOOO SALTY...BAD service!!!!!! by cookingmama69 via Citysearch on 7/31/2010

First off, the parking lot makes no sense. it's a far walk. but whatever, I guess I won't complain too much about it. Second, the food is overly salted. My boyfriend and I ordered calamari to start with. OVERLY SALTED and the portion was…

Best Humas in Galleria Area by Wayne Lee via Citysearch on 7/10/2010

Been here a few times. Service was always quick and friendly. Food is always good. One of our favorite Pappa's places. Looking forward to our next visit.

Great food! by CJ M via Insider Pages on 2/2/2010

Took a client here for lunch. We were both surprised when we stood in line to order but were glad when we saw the lines go down quickly. Using waitstaff at lunch would have taken way too long. Great food!

Don't waste your time or money by Athena8426 via Citysearch on 1/11/2010

Horrible place. It was way overcrowded and the food was way overpriced and downright disgusting. Don't waste your time or money on this dump.

Delicious Greek Food, Great Lunch Spot by CPO via Citysearch on 9/8/2009

I had a terrific lunch here on my recent visit to Houston. I love Greek food and this is the best I have found in Texas. Yia Yia Mary's has an amazing selection of food! There aren't many restaurants that offer the spectrum for pita…

Disappointing Overall by AnoNymous via Citysearch on 4/18/2009

After many people told me "you have to try this place", I did. I was very disappointed. First, you have to park in the garage that's a far walk, especially awful on a rainy day, cuz their lot only fits 5 cars, Second, all the tables are so…

Very disappointing by rettem via Citysearch on 3/24/2009

Arrived for dinner before a dressy function on 3/22/09. As we were being seated a waiter dropped a full tray of food splashing my wife and her friends black pants with soup. All the restaurant personnel cared about was cleaning up the…

food is good, but way overpriced by checkerhead via Citysearch on 2/12/2009

the rice here is delicious, and the kabobs are average, however the portions are small compared to the huge prices you pay.....i would go back, if it were not so overpriced considering the type of food they offer!

Good food by Lori B via Insider Pages on 8/15/2008

I have been to this restaurant many times. The food is good. The service is very good. The hummus is awesome! It is a bit noisy if the room is full. It can get very crowded at lunch time.

The best potatoes in Houston by LanaH11 via Citysearch on 6/26/2008

I love the food here. The best lemon roasted potatoes ever! Everything I've tried is good except for the hummus. Too much garlic and not authentic tasting. The chicken and beef is wonderful and love the Greek salad. I wish it was a…

Overpriced, so so food, and service needs improvement by love66 via Citysearch on 5/31/2008

Totally disappointed, have been wanting to stop in and just never had time. Sorry, i made the time today. Service was so so, food very bland and overpriced, salad was more like lettuce soup with the amount of dressing that was put on. …

Okay by Monica L via Insider Pages on 2/21/2008

My co-worker and I went there for lunch and we both really enjoyed the Rotisserie Lamb Gyro. The meat was tender, juicy, and flavorful. The main dining room is large and spacious but way too loud. What I do not like is having to order…

One of my favorite greek resturaunts by s0hel via Citysearch on 12/19/2007

I usually get the plates instead of the the gyro's. It does cost more, but it comes with a lot of food and it tastes so good. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes greek food.

The worst Greek food I've ever had in my life!!! by txstavros via Citysearch on 11/5/2007

As a 40 year old Greek guy that lives in Athens Greece, I know Greek food and this place has no Greek food! I visited Houston in September of this year and met up with an old friend to eat some Greek food. Well, I have to say, that it was…

Don't waste your time or money by olivia8410 via Citysearch on 7/19/2007

This place was the worst greek restaurant I have ever been to. I found Niko Niko's (on Montrose)to be a lot better quality than this one (also better in price). The food was all tasteless, you would need to have a few spices with you to…

I love the service and the variety. Patstisio is wonderful. by thehifidoc via Citysearch on 6/25/2007

My wife and I like this place. It is a little noisy but the service is good and the food variety is wonderful. The greeek salad is forgettable, but the Patstisio (sort of a Greek lasagne) is fabulous. I loved the potatoes as well which are…
