About Dr. Kayanja

Mark Kayanja, MD, PhD, is a board-certified orthopedic spine surgeon at Texas Back Institute serving patients in Plano, Frisco, and Lewisville, Texas. He specializes in spinal surgery with a special focus on adult and pediatric scoliosis, disc herniation, complex revision surgery, infections, and spinal tumors. His clinical interests include vertebral compression fractures, cervical and lumbar degenerative disorders, and revision spine surgery.
He completed his orthopedic residency and spine surgery fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic and then attended The CORE Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. Afterward, he worked at Miami Valley Hospital, affiliated with Wright State University, in Dayton, Ohio. Dr. Kayanja has a strong interest in spine biomechanics and holds a doctorate in the study of force and movement in the spine. 
Dr. Kayanja is a member of the North American Spine Society, AOSpine, American Medical Association, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He has authored several scientific articles, medical book chapters and has presented his research at conferences.
Dr. Kayanja combines the latest technology with the least invasive techniques available. He listens to his patients and uses diagnostic testing to create a personalized treatment for each patient.
